Did he have HIV or full blown aids when he came out with the news? It's been a long while. He aint dead yet? Did his doctor lie to him or did he and his doctor lie to us?

    Your thoughts?

In 1991, Magic Johnson attempted to get company paid health insurance. An HIV test is mandatory. That's how he found out he was (and remains) HIV positive. A good many HIV positive people do not develop AIDS, and with his financial resources, he can certainly afford the best medical treatment. Since leaving basketball as a player, he has become a successful business person and philanthropist. He does more for disadvantaged people now than he ever did before he contracted the virus.

I sense a tangent coming on ... some AIDS researchers who have been silenced by the majority think that HIV alone does not lead to AIDS, that it is HIV in conjunction with one of the herpes viruses that brings about the immune difficiency. According to the research (my apologies ... I saw this on a PBS news program several years ago) not all those with HIV develop AIDs but all those with AIDS have both HIV and the other virus. According to what I learned in college microbiology, in order for an organisim (or virus - since they are technically not alive like bacteria or protozoa) to be proved to cause a disease, it must cause the disease when introduced into a healthy organism. By that standard, HIV has never been proven to cause AIDS.
