Hi, everyone My first post here, and i want to share with you all our thoughts and philosophies from our mushroom-trip yesterday. We discussed for several hours yesterday and it all seemed so clear Here is what we talked about. Please comment, or let us know if you have ever thought like this, it was amazing: From you were little, people have always told you what to do. You sleep 8 hours at night, you eat dinner around 16:00-18:00, you learn the accepted moral and values. When you get older, these rules are printed so hard that you still live by them. You sleep at night, cause that's the "right" thing to do, you get up early as you are supposed to, and you make yourself dinner around 16:00-18:00. It shouldn't be that way. You should sleep when you are tired, and you should eat when you are hungry. Don't look at the watch the whole time. We always stress about time. Plan our days after the watch, and we feel we are in a hurry. All these rules, morals and values taught to you through your upbringing builds up certain "filters". Of all the inputs the environment gives you, the filters make you perceive what you sense in a certain way. Some inputs get filtered out, but the "important" ones (according to your filters) you absorb. When you look at a street you see pavement, cars, sidewalk and streetlights. You don't see the patterns of the stones, the garbage, rainwater by the side of the road, because it is filtered out. The same concept goes for when you meet new people. All the information you have about this person is being judged by your filters (nationality, religion, education, looks, smell), by taking the filters down you can really get to know that person for who he/she really is. Children don't have a perception of time. Before you're 5-6 years old you don't even know how to read the time from a watch. The life of a child is without worries. You go out and play the whole day, go home to eat dinner, and then go to sleep. Children have amazing imagination. They can play for hours with toys, "listen" to the toys conversation, give life to everything they want. Grown-ups don't have that imagination. Children are amazed by the smallest things. When you get older, the inspiration the "normal" things gives you is filtered away. You need more to be entertained. By removing your filters you can feel like a child again You can get amazed by everything and everyone. Children start school when they are 6-7 and go to elementary school till they are 13-14. The school system has a whole plan for how the children should be when they are finished. During these 7-8 years they are shaped after this plan. Morals, values and ideas are taught to shape the children's minds into being like "everyone else". The public accepted whey to be. The filters are made. On shrooms you can see and hear things in a different way. But nothing around you is really changed. It feels like everything is different because you accept more of the impressions the environment gives you. Your filters are taken away. It is weird how money controls the world. A piece of paper with 50 printet on it is worth ten times as much as another piece of paper with 5 printet on. What's even more weird is the use of bank accounts and -cards. You have an account in your name with a certain amount of numbers in it. It is not a box in the bank with your bills and coins in it, it is just numbers written in your name. If you buy something with your bank card, you get food, clothes or a TV. The only thing the shop gets in return is some of your numbers. They even made a filter on shrooms or drugs in general...they tell you what you "are supposed" to experience...even the way to perceive things the way they are and without filters, is actually filtered! Society doesn't allow us to act independently anymore, or even natural...everything is based on a set of standards that ironically...was created by us to avoid chaos but it turns out that this planning and rules put a limit on our lives. We can no longer see everything...we see only the "important" things which are actually superficial things...the important things are the details that make life so wonderful. But the filters keep these details away.. L Its so amazing how a small choice we make changes everything for the rest of our life trip and for the rest of the world...we are here today because of all the choices we've made or haven't made. One little detail or decision brought us here, with a certain circle of people, in a certain environment. ItÍs impossible to go back in time and change that decision because that implies changing everybody's life patterns together with yours. But is it that impossible? Would people know something changed or would they just live their life as it is, thinking they are responsible for it? How do you know for sure that you are here now because of "your" choices? What if someone else changed something in his life and so, changed yours as well. Maybe our past and memory is just our recent past and memory...maybe we have millions of previous lives that always change when someone decides to go back and change their decision...could that work? Are we in charge of our own life or somebody decides every second for us whats gonna happen? If we have a set starting point, does that mean that we also have a set end point? A known ahead destination, faith? Can we change that? Can we change our destiny? Is it weak to just live by the idea that we have a pre-arranged destiny and nothing we do can affect it? Why people created wars and destruction? Why don't they think on a bigger scale? Is our planet the only inhabited environment? Isn't it selfish to just think of the world as this planet? We are so insignificant compared to whats out there...maybe we are aliens for other beings...why do we consider the most superior form? And if we are, then why do we go on killing it just for reputation and fame? Revolutions and wars are just the representation of our petty characters, our uneducated and ignorant beliefs that we are everything and nothing else matters.
This is a great post, I think many of us have had our own versions of these thoughts and questions. Here are some reactions. TIME: Something that mushrooms have revealed to me about time is the very simple fact that our conditioned perspective of it is merely a system of measurement. Its something we invented in order to organize human energy / activites. What we think of as time is like the numbers on the side of a test tube. What time actually is is the mysterious liquid inside the tube who's properties we probably understand a lot less of then we usually stop to consider. We've all felt hours fly by and minutes crawl. We've all seen people who are 35 who look 25 or 45. Who knows how time really passes and how it might be different for everyone. Another thing people don't always think about is how the more time you accumulate that shorter the increments we use to measure actually become. Pretty simple math really. 1 year is a tenth of a ten year old's total existence for the journey from 10 to 11 seems a lot longer then it does for a 40 year old heading towards 41. LIFE: Of course there is life out there. Sentient? Perhaps. I think so. But if you think about the basic conditions needed for life to occur I think its more ridiculous to think there isn't life out there in several places in the universe. What I think is more interesting is to look at the strata of types of life on this planet and really take an outside perspective as to man's part in all that. The monkeys became intelligent and developed ego and language among other things during their speedy acension to planetary dominance. The reptiles didn't achieve the same things when conditions for life found favor with them. But if you look at a dinosaur it makes sense to think that that is the reptilian's dominant form and it supressed the mammals the same way we supress and even inhibit the evolution of other species now. Which makes me start to wonder about what man, who always views himself as the cutting edge, the newest and best thing on the market, really represents in the big picture. When our own proverbial meteor hits what will rise to dominance in its wake? Or if it we do survive what if anything are we in the process of moving towards / becoming / evolving into? Bear in mind that this evolution may be slightly different then the talking monkey type, but one born of language, information and science...
There's so much that we filter out, more than what we actually perceive. I think that psychedelics do eliminate that block, but is also something we can do on our own. We just got ro see, really see and let our mind wonder. There's so much I have seen when not thinking upon what is than Im observing, only to be amazed later. Children are so much more open to everything, some of it I do think is imagination, but I think that a lot of it is just letting things in. They dont stop to think "oh this isnt normal" and discard it, they just take everything in. Children know how to only see, we usually put a lot of our own person into what we see, instead of just seeing what's there.
yea I agree. good job with posting it so it makes sense-most people on shrooms-including myself-will have great thoughts and ideas in their heads, but are unable to express them in words or writing, so to everyone else you look like a babbling retard, but in your head you know you have something great.
What's even more bs is how much shit the government hides from us and how good they are at controlling most people and getting everyone to believe what they want. Good thing I keep an open mind and I do what I want. Don't listen to anyone, unless you can only be 100% sure it's true. I'll leave it up to you to decide if it's 100% true or not. Too many people believe anything they are told. That's my philosophy right now. Still coming down.
Watch this. It covers the stuff you guys are talking about, This movie is a trip in and of itself. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ Enjoy! Any comments are welcome! Check out www.shroomotopia.com forums. We are trying to help it grow!
Yes, I get like this when on mushrooms, very deep into intellectual thought. The thing about shrooms is that when your on them everything that you think about deeply makes greater sense or atleast a greater impression in your mind. When your sober you don't really think about it and just say "that's life."
