Stores I barefooted this weekend: 2 separate Walmarts Sam's Club Lowes Hardware Kohls PetsMart Staples local grocery store and our favorite Mexican restaraunt. Not a single question, comment, or hassle at any of these establishments. Walmart floors are filthy. Sams Club and Lowes floor are really smooth and feel good under foot.
Awesome. Where are you located? I'm getting more comments and questions now that it's colder...about one or two a week. Some dude told me yesterday that I'd forgotten my shoes. In the summer I can go a month or two with no one raising an eyebrow. Man you went to 2 different Wal Marts in one weekend? That's part of my definition of hell.
Almost all Home Depots have a sign on their door banning bare feet - I think it's a circle with a bare foot in it with a diagonal line. But I go in them all the time and almost never have a problem. I say almost, because one time, in another state, as I walked in some woman at the Returns desk yelled at me saying I had to have on shoes in there. I just said, "Don't worry about it. It's not a problem," and kept walking. She said, "I'm serious!" I repeated, "It's not a problem. I'll be fine," and never stopped. The funny thing is, later when leaving the checkout, I noticed they'd charged me wrong, so went back. The clerk said I'd have go to the Returns desk to get it staightened out! I thought, "Oh no - I'll have to talk to the woman that said something when I came in." When I walked up, it was the same woman. But this time she didn't say a word about my feet and was extremely friendly and helpful. A pleasant surprise. So, sign or no sign, just walk on into Home Depot and act like you own the place. Chances are they'll treat you fine.
