I don't know if this is a silly question, but I've been wondering, why is tye-dye so big when people think of hippies? Where did it come from and wh did it stick? Like I said, this may be a silly question, but I really want to know. Thanks!

The history of dyeing things goes waaayyyy back.. before christ.

As far as Tye-Dyeing, it was popular in the 60's really as a from of protest. It was a way of throwing artistic anarchy into the faces of all the politicians who were pro-vietnam war.

Thats my take on it anyways.
I'm not sure if I qualify as an "old" hippie... but what the heck...)

That makes sense I suppose. :) Thanks, though. I was so utterly clueless with that.

Old hippie? I'm not too sure. Maybe teen-ish hippie, I'm just guessing.
