    Hey everyone,
I'm doing a project in art class where we have to make and decorate a box in the style of a certain artist and then fill it with 5 things you think the artist would have wanted to have as a sort of christmas present.
For my artist, I chose Syd Barrett, mainly caus I wanted to do something kind of different and I had heard somewhere that he painted quite a bit.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with the 5 things. It has to be something that could easily fit into a small box, about the size of a lunch box (preferably something I can print off my computer).
At the moment the only thing I can think of is a picture of the cover of the "Wish you were here" album since I know the Shine on you crazy diamond was a sort of tribute to him.
I was going to include a bunch of other musical stuff but then I read somewhere that he didn't really like being reminded of his musical past (and yes, I know he's dead)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Well it depends WHEN you want to give him this gift. Since he's dead, you obviously don't have to give it to him in the present time--that would be kind of silly.

Why not make it a gift to give him in, say, 1966 or '67?

In that case, you could give him... guitar strings? You could put paint or paintbrushes in there, too. Maybe an American blues 45. I don't know--this is kind of an odd project.

I love what your doing. Can you put something drug related in because he had an appetite for LSD, which has been a theory for his leaving of Pink Floyd. No guitar strings. Any type of pyschedelic painting. Maybe some window curtains, because he was a recluse when he left and he stayed at his mothers house and refused any contact from fans or musicians and the curtains are kind of a symbol for shutting everyone out. Maybe eyeliner because there are some photographs of him wearing it. Dark colored clothes, he wore them alot.

You could print a picture of a strobe light since they were one of the first bands to perform light shows with their music
