Does your town/city/village have a free bookshop? We have one here and it's fantastic. It ain't totally free, you make a donation (the guy accepts anything) and away you walk with some really fantastic books and the best thing about it is that all the proceeds go towards renting the shop and planting trees in Africa.
Lots of these things exist over the internet. Used book stores sell books online for 0.01 cent (at least in the US) plus shipping... (I think they make like a 1$ on shipping), and they usually use the money for some philanthropic cause, or at least to stay open. I'm sure some of these bookstores also exist in the UK, just do the google. Plus... they always have a great selection. I bought practically every Vonnegut and Burroughs book in existence off one of them.
Good point. But this only means that you're not hunting for books, you are hunting for an experience! The books are just a great perk
I think I'll stick to hunting for books in the fleash, much more interesting. Plus, I love randomly finding decent books, it makes my day!
Nothing like that here... In fact a book shop just closed down in the town centre to make way for yet another clothes store!! Its not even a good clothes store...
If anybody wants, I have a lot of old books that need to find new homes. Mainly Tom Clancy novels. I don't suppose anyone would be interested?
funny, i have a bunch of Tom Clancy that I don't read. if i read him more often i might be interested myself, but well seems he collects dust recently in favour of other authors.
Ah, well, in my case it just seems that I've re-read every book at least 5 times because I enjoy them so much! I think it's time I give them a rest for a while. hehe
