I so totally want to become good at anime! I really do. It is unbelievable how much willpower I have in trying to get myself better! Problem is, I never seem to improve! Waaah! Can anybody be so kind to lead me to a site where I can learn from and hopefully gain a wide array of tips and techniques which will help me? Thanks in advance

    Or,

You can post your tips here and share it with us all! (Oh, and if you can, post up some of your fabuloso piccies as well!)

well i've seen some good humorous ones.

a good memory for where i've seen them so i could post links i don't have. but certainly there are an abundance of sites and forums specificly about anime and creating it out there. my one suggestion would be to spend some part of every time you log on to the net looking for them if you haven't found them already.

the same expression can be seen different ways by different people with different cultural expectations. i think that's the reason, aside from gratuitous cuteness, for the "XD", ie: extremely deformed, concept.

Initially copying, and then when you can do that start applying what you've learn't to your own writings. I spent a few years smuggling european comic strip work and gradually worked and developed a feeling for that style of drawing. Took about 3 years to get there. My stuff is here at www.smugglingvacation.co.uk to see what I mean. My style is now very european, but with all my other influences mixed in, such as animation, live action movies, painting and the like. You can get there if you have reasonable talent and are creative and varied in the way you study. I found studying Drawing on the right side of the Brain and a lot of eastern arts philosophy with some bhuddism also helped as they encourage not judging yourself and your work too harshly which is what a lot of us artists do when we're developing.
    Good luck.

I don't draw anime but I do have some good tips.
    1. only draw with a pen (black Micron pens are the best), because you can't erase and it slowly makes you better.
    2. Be observational, that has helped me a great deal. Just look closely at everything.
    3. Research, research everything and get a whole bunch of different ideas...such as anatomy.
keep drawing man...your only 15. You will get better.

Thank you very much for your posts everybody :D I really appreciate it! I am afraid to say drugsmugglingcartoon that I cannot get to your site! :( But thanks for the tips! I always use pencil so perhaps using pen would be much more beneficial for me! I will give that a go!

The main problem that I have is hair. It is so damned annoying. I mean, everyone says to me that I have to draw each strand with a sharp pencil. But I can NEVER get the flow of hair quite right. Grr!

Study human anatomy, not anime-anatomy. Once you get the basic human figure down, apply that to an anime style and your drawing will be more alive.
