i'll be 17 in less than 3 months, and i'm planning on moving out once my buddies get an apartment, which should be around a month after i turn 17

i'm sure they'll be supportive, but the state between oblivious and accepting is usually anger in their case

if your name isnt on the lease and your living there it can cause problems Ive seen people get kicked out for it. Because there were people living there that haddent signed the lease I dont know how it works everywhere though.

wouldn't that only be if they weren't paying rent and the people who signed the lease wanted them out?

if they were paying rent monthly and weren't causing troubles i don't see how it would be an issue

they were causing trouble but they got evicted because people that wernt on the lease were living there. They would of only got warnings if it would of been the other troubles.

Be damned sure that the living situation won't hurt the friendship. If you get on well with your parents why not wait 'till 18 before moving out? I can see why your folks might be a little concerned that you might not be getting into a good situation. They'll be pleased as hell to see you set off on your own and making a decent go of it. I've seen the best of friendships go to shit after the friends decide to share a roof. A roommate is as much a business deal as it is a friendly one.

I think they'll just say no. How are your grades? Will you be a senior in high school next year? Any thoughts on college or no college?

Hell, I say go for it. You only live once (unless you believe in reincarnation). So why not? If your parents don't mind, if it goes to pot you can move back in with them until you can get a place with your name on the lease.
Beware, however, of schoolwork. Speaking from experience (I moved out at 16), you have to be very self-motivated to get all your work/assignments in on time. Your parents won't be around to nag you about it - this may seem like a plus, but it takes organisation.
How's your financial situation? If you slip behind on the rent, even the nicest friend will start to get pissed off and may kick you out.

If you fall behind on rent you should kick yourself out. In reality there's no such thing as falling behind on rent. I like to call that get the fuck out, as opposed to falling behind on rent.

my parents aren't around now to nag me about my homework, i don't have someone telling me to get my homework done, and i have fine grades, not 80's and 90's but nothing below a 60

and the guys i'm planning on moving in with a real close buds, one of them i've known for 11 years, one for 4 and one for 2, and i get that it's just as much about money as it is being friends, which is why all four of us have gone over costs over and over again making sure that we're going to pay what we've said we'll pay, and all that jazz

financial situation is why i'm not moving out until late January, i'm not currenly employed, i worked for the summer and had enough money to live for a couple months into school, i am looking for a job however, so i have thought about that
and around here, rent is average $1200, split between 4 people is $300, plus or minus utilities, and then adding cable and internet together would be no more than $50/person/month
then $50/each/month groceries and that's $400-$600/each/month, which wouldn't be bad

50/month/person doesn't seem like very much money for groceries. thats not even two dollars a day.

I can relate to that! I found a great friend through these forums (lovelightlisa) but at some point we were living together and I only got irritated by her presence, and she with mine. Moving in with friends or having friends move in with you changes things a LOT. Know what you're doing.
