In the news today, there was a horrific story of a small black puppy that has been kicked about like a football by kids for several hours. As you'd assume, the puppy didn't survive was had to be put down. Life could never treat someone so awfully that they'd act so pitifully. How could any child or any one be so cruel? Is the world getting worst, or is how the media evolving making more news more public? I personally think it's a mixture of both. Marie-Clare xxx
It feels like we're going back in time sometimes rather than moving forward. Hour after Hour...with not one thought of it being a living being? A touch of guilt that it was wrong to cause such unnecessary pain and grief?I could find out about every single tragic piece of news happening in the world right now, and people's cruelty would still shock me. It's just a good thing there are some good good people out there trying still trying to make the world a better, kinder place to be. Marie-Clare xxx
I firmly believe that human nature doesn't change, or at least changes very very slowly - much more slowly than society changes. Some people have always been callous and without empathy, this kind of thing has always happened, right throughout human history. Now we just get to hear about it more often. Which, I suppose, is a good thing if it makes clear that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable in our society. Not that people will listen or learn, unfortunately.
these are the kind of people that grow up to become the kind of people that take school children as hostages.
Yeah, apparently it's been proven that paedophiles usually have a history of animal abuse as a child...urgh..
I'm forty three next Sunday..think that makes me the oldest regular on this forum. And I often ponder on is the world getting worse ...or is it that events are more publicised. My fundamentalist Christian friends tell me this is all part of the worlds ending ...I think they are wrong....I think Mr Showmet has hit the nail on the head....human nature is only changing ever so slowly but media and technology have progressed at a much faster rate. I also think that although humans are social animals , the kind of pressurised on top of each other living we do causes us immense stress and that shows in the way we behave. When I was a little girl, one of my friends brothers used to Kill frogs by popping them ( won't go into details it was awful ) . I was only about six and was very distressed by it...but Sarah thought it was funny and so did her brother and two friends. I think they kind of egged each other on in a display of hardness and showing off....Last I heard ( we are no longer friends ) in adult life she is perfectly " normal" working for Norwich Union insurance company...so there is hope for these kids..small comfort to the puppy or the frogs though.
Talking about the news... I cried my eyes out on the way home from work tonight... quite literally. did you hear about that poor 14 yr old boy that was kidnapped by a pheodophile ring? I don;t even know what to say about it, its so horrific
"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."~ Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948) Nice words
I remember reading about a similar case in the papers several years ago and just sitting there and crying........They had a guy on the radio from the NSPCC ( I think) Claire, and he was saying it is appalling and it is hard to hear , but that this has always gone on....it's just that most of us find it so hard to believe. He thought that it was actually hopeful that these cases are now being brought out into the open more....its sort of like the first step towards solving a problem acknowledging that it could be happening on your own doorstep.
Oh my word i agree... yes I think whole heartedley it has always gone on ... behind closed doors Yes, it is better it is out in the open... you know?... i would be suprised if less than 90% of the population had experienced some form of sexual abuse. Let's get it out in the open... and then people experiencing it wouldn;t feel that it was just their secret and no one else would understand. The people on the receving end feel so guilty But it isnt there fault at all.
