If I left my hair alone to knot up, I understand it will take some time. If I wear a beenie hat sometimes, such as when I am in public and at work etc. would the hat affect the knotting process? I don't want to not wear one because even on the very first day of not combing I have never seen anything like it. It just sticks out in all directions and looks like a massive afro. I get far too many comments and it is such a pain in the arse being called a scarecrow all the time, lol, yes, really. It really is the messiest bedhead I've ever seen as it does not fall, it just sticks out, sticks up, etc. So, would a beenie hat hinder the process? I spend large amounts of time on my own and only plan to wear the hat perhaps, in total, 4 hours par day. Thanks. EDIT, not sure if this is relevant, but it is now 5 1/2 inches on top and 4 1/2inches round the back. Its starting to feel long and nearly dreadworthy. Damn those poeple who have it 20 inches or more!! Its not fair ha ha ha.
yeah i wear a beanie half the day till i go to bed everyday have for about a month take it off when i surf and sleep because i don't want my parents knowing im getting dreads lol im just going to take it off one day and they will just be like woahh haha because if i didn't have a beanie they would be like comb your hair its so messy i have an acrylic one though i want a wool one
Yeah I know, I'm 28 and I don't want my dad knowing. He is a real short back and sides type person, and I just want to whip off my hat one day too and say "Oh by the way, look what happened to my hair" ha ha. Can't believe I'm 28 and feel like that. I remember a man I once knew who was 35, and his dad didn't know he smoked. One of my ex girlfriends from last year was also 35, and her parents didn't know she smoked either. Weird, that no matter how old you get, there is still that element of, I dunno, I don't know how to explain it. But bottom line is, beenies won't hinder the progress?
I have some beanies in my etsy shop that you may like, the pure wool ones would probably be better for you than the acrylic ones. take a browse if you are interested. www.arliaflower.etsy.com
i wear a knit cap (not wool) all day at work... about 9+ hours and it is definately helping the process, especially in the back and sides....then again, i'm moving around and sweating at work so you may have different results.
if its a wool beanie it shouldnt be a problem... if its acrylic dont wear it. just while ur wearing it rub around once or twice on ur head to get curls going instead of flat hair.
wool beanies help, so wear it as often as you like. tams are even better though imo cause your hair can move around in them.
I have a beanie lol, it's my trademark, had it for ages, basically get a wool beanie and spend 5 mins a day rubbing it anti-clockwise, Then, slap it on afterwards, that's what i do, give it time and it goes pretty funky and what not.
i have a bennie, mines starting making me some dreads without me even trying, just feel my head and they are there, hats are good
i have a beanie thats 85% acrylic 15% wool. would this help dreads form or do i need a 100% wool beanie??
you can use it, its not going to hurt but i dont know if it will knot up your hair or not. wool is the best if you can get it.
i wear a wool beanie type hat for around 12-13 hours a day (10hours of work with 3hrs of commute) and it definitely doesn't have any detrimental effects. if i put all my locks up in the top then pull it onto my head they are all crazy and go every which way at the end of the day . If i pull it over my head with my locks flat on my head they look nice and organized by the end of the day. Isaac
