How do I make my hash better?

I've recently purchased 1 pound of Hash (compressed Kief type). It's pretty hard in brick form. When smoked it burns instead of melting and bubbling.

I want to purify my hash so it becomes a potent black/brown hash that melts and bubbles when smoked.

Does anyone have any information on the process I'd haveto go through to do this? Any help is appreciated.

But OK, if you must make it black and icky! Soak it in alcohol, let it dry, it'll be all black and crackly when you smoke it.
