I accidently grabbed a box of fresh scent tampons the other day. These make me un-easy and worry me and I don't think they smell very good. Is it safe to have something scented inside of me? Is there anything I should know about scented tampons? Thanks.

Maybe its just me, but i think there is something very unsanitary about scented tampons. It wont hurt you to use them, you just might feel rather unfresh, thats all.

they give some people rashes and cause itchiness. i've never had a problem with them but i avoid them just in case. you should be fine though.

I bought them once on accident, too. I've never had much of an "odor" during my period until I bought them. I'd even smell it after I showered.

It's kind of gross, I know...but that was my one and only experience with scented tampons.

that just seems sort of wrong to me. THen again I'm a diva cup lady myself. I think tampons just don't seem very healthy.

I hate scented tampons. Firstly, I'm not sure what "scent" the manufacturers think I want down there, but it sure as hell isn't "springtime fresh with a hint of hot garbage". [IMG] Ok, so that's not quite right, but I'm not sure how to describe it. I think that they're pretty irritating on such sensitive skin anyway, so I don't use them.

Scented feminine products always smell like insecticide to me. Blech!

And I don't think all those chemicals are good for you even on the outside of your body.

Yeah, scented tampons freak me out. They often change the pH inside your vagina, which can essentially give you yeast infections and other irritations. I don't really get the point, either...period odor isn't that strong! Unless someone has their face in my cooch it's fine! No one will walk by me on the street and smell it!

You could try it, of course, it doesn't irritate every body, but if you want to stick on the safe side I probably wouldn't use them :S

The thing is....menstrual blood doesn't start to smell funky unless it's exposed to air for a while. A tampon shouldn't need to be scented, since the blood is held inside your body until it's time to change the tampon.

It's pads that smell yucky. But even so....a pad that's changed frequently enough should be sufficient. Using a scented pad, tampon, or any kind of spray is silly, IMO. Soap and water, plus changing your feminine product often enough should keep odor at bay.

Sunburst is right, not only that, scented tampons can also cause urinary tract infections, they are NOT good for you.
