Hi Guys, The girls aren't healthy, but I don't know why exactly. I just started to flush, coz they're 2 weeks away from harvest, but half the big leaves have yellowed between the veins. The other half have just gone pale yellow all over and the smaller leaves around the buds are going a deep purple colour. I have sprayed with epsom salts and they've been fed since cloning with Formulex (Growth Technology) fully balanced liquid food. Compost pH is good at 6.7 - 6.9. Good amount of water. Good lights (MH 18/6, HPS 12/12). The seeds these were cloned from were supposed to be northern lights, but that's a bit dubious as the plants are quite tall. Purple leaves?, Yellow leaves?? What else could be causing this??? Any thoughts much appreciated.
Hard to help you without a picture, but purple leaves is most likely from low temperatures (maybe when the lights are off). It's not that big of a deal.
Thanks Lune. I hadn't thought of the cold. That could be it. Always glad to learn something new. cheers
Purple leaves is also a sign that the plants are eating the last of the food, including chloryphil that is stored there during growth:>)
Correct me if I am wrong but there are strains, especially if you don't know the exact origin of yours, that turn purple along the edges as they reach maturation. This happened with some of my plants that were a certain strain, but were in the same environment as other strains that did not exhibit the purpling. Honestly unless you are 100% sure of what plant the clones came from I bet they are just some funky bud that was cloned and given a tag, it happens a lot. Keep it Green
Indica is the genus that produces the red color, wide leaves, red hairs, red stems:>) Sativa is the golden genus, narrow leaves, golden hairs, green stems:>) Now! when we get down into the species (Where the genus' mix) is where we encounter strains;>) Indica dominant= red, wide leaves, red hair, purple bud.>b........ Sativa dominant= golden colors and narrow leaves, taller plants! I agree with green, there's entirely too much cross breeding going these days }=>(
