I was just wondering if the new flourescent bulbs that you screw in will do the same job as the regular flourescent tubes....they take up less space and its easier to use higher wattage bulbs

Do you mean Compact Flouresents (CFL's)? Most people that grow with floros use CFLs, they work just fine, but still it's better to try to get a HID light. If you look online you can find some CFLs that are over 100w, those might be best if you're going that route.

I use A 125w CFL for my clone machine, and 2 of them to root the clones.

I use CFLs exclusively to root, veg and flower my grow, and it's working real good. The really low heat radiation is great with these lights!

Make sure you get the correct colour temperature of your lights tho, "daylight" (6500K) for veg and "varm white" (2700K) for flower.
