It seems that around me everyone is trying to be a vegetarian because someone famous they know is. Its really annoying, I dont mind if they are but when they try to shove thier fake views on it down my throat its to much. Example. Some chick I know. "Im going to be a" -Ok this is how she said it.- *VAY-GaN* "I think your should be a VAY-GaN with me. My gf, "I really think you should stop eating meat. I saw on the discovery channel" -Babbles mindlessly on how we get meat out of cows- Someone actually bought me a sweatshirt that said Vegan on it. Like i have said before, I have no problems with REAL vegetarians or vegans but.. I think its becoming a fad. A rather annoying fad. Anyone else with relates expierences?
Yeah, I don't think it is a trend though...its just that people are actually starting to realize what they're actually eating...and it is disguesting! I'm a vegetarian though....lol
hmmmm i dunno cos everyone round here finds its quite funny to tease me saying "oh that pig looks damn tasty" it is actually quite funny bt that means no so many vegans etc. And i have a friend who says vay-gan... But she isnt one.
my reasons for being a vegetarian aren't ethical, since I think all life has equal value (therefore no value). I'd feel bad for a poor pig or a cow or a fish being led to the slaughter, but nature is predatory and organic matter survives by consuming other organic matter. that said, I do think that the practices of the meat industry are NO DIFFERENT than a socially accepted Holocaust. I just think eating meat is really gross. tastes awfully good but the act of eating a sliced and diced carcass turns my stomach.
let them be i think. they will either soon get bored of it or acually realise the benifits. theres nothing much you can do except grin and bare it =] peace
Pretending to care is the new thing when in actuality they are doing nothing productive with their lives. I suggest you eat a live cow right in front of 'em.
If someone asked me why i was VAY-gan i doubt id know what they meant until after a good few minutes of thinking Ive been vEEgan for 2 years veg for 8...so yeah not a fad, but i know there are people who ARE like that which is rather annoying, but not overly so Theyre probably just innocently thinking theyre doing whats right, because they probably take most other life decisions so lightly too. The kind of people who buy certain clothes because a magazine said they were "in this season"
I'm not really a vegetarian, nor do I try to claim to be, but whenever I go grocery shopping, I like to try out some sort of meat-replacment, like the other day I tried some meatless ground beef to have in tacos and I couldn't even taste the difference. The reason I do this, is because if I ever *have* to be a vegetarian, like if some horrible cow disaster happens, then I'm ok cuz I'm used to it haha. PLUS I love the idea of not killing more animals than I need to, because as tasty as they are, they are sooooo cute.
Yeh, I think it is annoying when people just do things because they think it's cool, and that's what everyone else is doing :l But I'm working towards being a vegetarian, its just hard when I still live at home, and I can't just reject food that my mum makes me, I'd feel way too bad. And I'm not going to try to force everyone in my house to become a vegetarian because thats what I think is right, thats not the way I work But those fake 'vay-gans' will get over it soon Those fads don't usually last very long peace Jane
It is annoying when people start to do things just because they are trendy. But when you look at the latest trendy thing...going green...it brings ti moind that every so often trends aren't such a bad thing.
But, if people are going green just because 'everyone else is' they're doing it for the wrong reason They probably just want to fit in, and care nothing about our beautiful Earth But if a trend helps someone better their lifestyle, then that's great! I totally dig that! Peace Jane
But more times than not, they just SAY they care about the environement but don't do shit. And there are other ways to hurt the meat industry outside vegetarianism, like I only eat hunted meat. Plus, I don't think vegetarianism helps the world so much a group of individuals.
