Steve Fossett was a millionaire adventurer known for his record-breaking balloon flights and for his mysterious 2007 disappearance in Nevada.
Peggy Fossett, who lived in Chicago with her husband, filed a court petition in Cook County, Illinois on Monday asking that the millionaire aviator's assets be distributed according to his will.

But whatever ever happens to his stuff if somehow he is found alive? If the wife gets remarried and a "dead" first husband shows up alive...then what?

It has probably happened before. I guess its settled in court..although generally the POW would not be a multi-millionaire.

Steve is still alive but just doesn't exist in our time anymore. He flew into a wormhole near area 51 and is now 211 years in the future. But really, a man of his age and health either disappears on purpose and wants to stay gone or is highly unlikely to be able to survive through a winter in the wilderness alone after a plane crash.
