anyone here on a raw food diet???? i jus orderd a book an am seriously considering giving it ago, the health benifits seem overwhelming , mental and phissical. it does just seem like common sense that raw food it obviously right. "cooked food is poison"
Maybe it'll improve your spelling? Raw food isn't for everyone. We've been eating cooked food for so long, there's no going back for some. Our bodies will not accept anything else. There's nothing wrong with cooked food if its properly cooked. You might find it hard going against a 2 million year old habit. Your DNA has adapted to it. x
There's a raw-food restaurant here in SF, and honestly, I can't do it. Some of their stuff is really good, but I've been several times now, and everytime I go, I get sick to my stomach. And I'm inherently skeptical because alot of those raw foodists are sugar-nazis who are convinced sugar in any form is bad for you--they even go against carrots and garlic, for gods sake! That's too extreme; I have no desire to live to be 130 anyway. I'll stick with my pasta.
im not keen on living till 130 either but i want my time here to be the best it can be , an at the moment i feel lost with my diet. i cudnt be as strict as the extremist , i still want to get drunk an smoke a bong when i want to, lifes for living etc etc. i like the thought of shunning modern food aswell , theres alot of crap out there, i wanna stick to natures law. who cares bout spelling ,you got the message. do you really think that ill find it hard??? like stumach aches an stuff like that?? yeh theres nawt wrong with cooked food jus raw food is much much better , apparantly. ive read nothing but positive feed back up to now
Detox Your World: Quick and Lasting Results for a Beautiful Mind, Body and Spirit by shazzie . im gonna start on monday its gonna cost alot but "cant put a price on health" . its sounds like just what i need,
A former poster at HF was convinced that Skip and DoktorAtomik are the same person is enough to convince me of not going on a raw food diet.
some foods are better for you cooked and i don't think a juicer can get rid of many anti-nutrients in raw foods. cooked foods and raw foods each other their own benefits and drawbacks. imo variety is the best way to get the benefits and minimize negative drawbacks.
its really good , it really picks u up , basically every aspect of my life is improving , my DRUMMING , social skills , family life , health , energy , brain works better , out look on life etc etc the only bad thing is when i go out with my mates , usually id be sat there binge drinkin , binge smokin , binge drugging , now when i go out with em i jus sit there really bored an dont go out as much , but thats one of the main thing i wanted to change so im jus gonna have to adapt , im evening coming round to the idea that i cud go to college an do sumert with my life HAAAAAAAAAA
the nutrients in spinach aren't absorbable unless the cellular walls are degraded enough to release those nutrients. raw foods include gentle cooking to not more than like 130 degrees, I think? and I think it's stewed tomatoes that helps the body absorb lycopene.. I'm not an expert on it, so pardon me!
im no expert either , you can dehydrate foods , im gonna get a dehydrater . an yeh theres some foods that are difficult to digest raw but thats just because were not designed to eat everything, like beans ,its the clash of protein and carbhydrates that make you fart and our digestive system struggle to digest it, were not ment to eat anything and everything
Good luck I hope its going well for you People are skeptical of raw foods liek they are of any "new" idea (although as you probably know this far far from being new LOL) Anyway ive been high raw for 3 months and i feel FANTASTIC. I am going 100% this week and plan to remain that way and just cant wait. The power of raw vegan foods to heal is INCREDIBLE. It really is unbelievable As for tomatoes and lycopene, you can get the same effect by blending them. Same for spinach or anything else, or even just chewing very well in some cases! Not a suitable argument against raw foods. Raw is so natural, the way all other animals eat. You get the enzymes, ALL the nutrients. This is obviously undeniable. Since being high raw i can no longer digest things like pastry, bread, crackers, which proves to me i was on the wrong path. I mean they give me rashes, i bloat up hugely, my bodys treating them as something unhealthy Good on you, i say. Give it a go. As has ben said its not for everyone, and im not sure 100 is for me yet, but youre giving it a try and what can you lose? Really, youll only gain long as you do it right and get plenty of the good stuff. So many vitamins etc, which most peoples bodies are badly craving
I have nothing against carrots or garlic! Infact garlic is greatly healing and im pretty sure all my raw friends are aware of this. Anti fungal, great for yeast and candida. Ive been having lots of garlic, the breath is worth it As for sugar i personally prefer to use agave nectar, firstly as vegan sugar is hard to come by (made with animal bones) secondly because i personally do tend to become addicted and i know its negative effects. Im not a "sugar nazi" though, people can eat what they want and i realise a teaspoon of sugar in your coffee isnt going to kill Im sure there are nazi like people about, but arent there about everything? Ive never heard the carrot/garlic thing before
Anything "bad" in the plants is easily neutralised by the positive in them alone. Obviously id advise buying organic to avoid commercial sprays and pesticides. Treating the negative with cooked food seems a little irrational to me, as cooked and processed foods have many of their nutrients depleted in the process, which is why cooked veggies often shrivel up and basically look like theyre dying. Theyre also rarely organic making this even worse Im in no way saying this way of eating is for everyone. But i cant see how it can be slated as much as it is, many people are living evidence of how it can work for some bodies
Thanks for bringing some light to this thread. It's fairly irritating to see people belittle someone's lifestyle choice, and especially in this case.. where raw really is the way to go. Yeah yeah... it's not for everyone, but honestly.. the only people who wouldn't want a raw diet are just addicted to being weighted down. There was some talk to books at the beginning of this thread, and I'd encourage everyone to pick up a copy of Victoria Boutenko's book, Green For Life. She makes it quite clear that a diet of green smoothies is by far, the best way to give your body what it wants and needs. I could go on, but I'm sure if anyone who doubts raw diets did a little research, they would discover some pretty amazing facts. -Mike
