This post wasnt getting any attention where I had it so im moving it here I just bought a cabinet from walmart measuring 60"Hx30"Lx15 3/4"W.....my plan was to grow 2 plants in the top half, 2 in the bottom...so total space for 2 plants is 30"x30"x15 3/4"....the strains i purchased is white widow and northern lights, i think they are relativly small plants...this space has to fit my lights, which are 24" flourecents (i cant afford anything better) and also has to fit the actual pots...wasnt sure which size (height wise) would be needed for pots....any suggestions? is this space too small for growing 4 plants, or should i just grow 2 plants at the full 60" height? which would grow more bud?...also, would this space be good for SoG? (if i do decide to do that)
yea that space is WAY to small for 4 plants, 2 might work. is this your first grow?? what kind of flouros are they (watts, spectrume?). im not to familiar with sog but i know that would prob work better but much harder to do. u could prob divide your cabinet in half and grow 2 plants sog and have a decent yield
yes this would be my first grow...I havn't bought the lights or fixtures yet....i had planned to buy a double 24" flourescent, and possibly a single for each shelf....so 40-60W (cause the fixtures say 20w max per bulb) on each shelf....this would give me about 2550-3825 lumens for 2 plants in the 30x30x15 3/4" space...however if you dont think this is enough space to grow 2 small plants then i guess i could only grow 2 plants in the 60x30x15 3/4", and maybe just buy a bunch of CFLs...which would be better? everyone says flourescent bulbs work good for shelf growing however i just did a quick calculation and if its recromended to have 2500 lumens per square foot, than i should need about 8200 lumens for my space...does that sound right or did i do something wrong? from the sounds of it flourecents wouldnt work at all, cfl would be better...would need like 5 bulbs to get my 8200...that would take a lot less space than flourecent tubes which would need like 6 or 7 tubes...any advice would be great
yea that was going to be my advice to get the small compact florecents. them things are way easier to put into a smaller place. i never like the tube florecents because they get broke easy and they take up a bunch of space. i would think that if you had two CFLs for each plant(4 total) you should be fine. you can get pretty high wattage CFLs now so you might even be able to have just 2 of them. look around im sure you can figure out something. this same type of thing is what i was thinking about growing in but i dont have the room right now.
Just to tell you, you bought white widow and northern lights. They are both sativa, sativa grows a lot taller than any indica plant. Which are normally used for indoor. I will need more space for later unless u trim the top of the plant
are you sure? any site i've seen says northen lights is indica, and ww is a mix, of mostly indica....either way i think i'm just gonna grow the two plants anyways and use cfls...would it be smart to grow one of each, or should i just grow one strain at a time...i'd like to have both goin but im just afraid of them growing at different heights and that would be difficult for keeping the lights at the right height
Well i got all my lights wired and put in...4 27W cfl and 1 15W...i was goin for the recrommended 2500 lumens psf....to me it looks to be a little much...when i close my doors its so bright that the light escaping from around the doors makes it looks like a doorway into heaven...its pretty funny looking....i might have trouble keeping the heat down, ill know more once i got my fans in
