I live on a sailboat in Philadelphia. It's a 40 foot sailboat-which sounds big-but inside it's the size of a small studio. I've been upgrading and fixing it up for a few years. I'm hoping to head south at the end of next year. There is still a lot of work that needs to be done before I leave. My friend who was going to leave with me is unable to go and I'm looking for someone new. I don't know if I can find the right person on a website but there seems to be some interesting people here. I'm looking for a male-who isn't too jaded, biased, and fucked by society that they've closed their minds too much and developed some bothersome hang-ups (if that's not you then I'm interested) and male because a boat is a very small place and I'll be spending alot of time within 20 feet of you. I definitely want to travel with some nice sisters-but for now I'm looking for a male to move on the boat with me, help me fix it up, and sail away. I'm looking for someone who can live with someone in a small confining space for weeks at a time (you can't leave the boat in the middle of the ocean). Be cool if you had experience with tools, carpentry, electricity, engines, or even sailing. Someone who can read and follow a manual. Someone who can learn quickly. Get along with people. Someone who can take some physical abuse -sailing is a lot of work and takes muscle. Someone I can trust. I'm a non-smoker-although I enjoy 420, good beer, good wine, and tequila. I have a dog-a siberian husky. I have a good sense of humor (very sarcastic-in a funny way)-I'll make fun of myself as much as other people. I'm easy to get along with. If you're interested send me an e-mail. Let me know about yourself, what you're looking for in life. Be cool if you lived near Philadelphia.
Uh I may have to meet you sometime. When I graduate from high school I was planning on either getting a boat of my own and travelling around the ICW for a while, or travelling on foot around America. Judging from your description I think we'd get along great.
The boat is an Irwin Racing Sloop-it's a '79-nice thick glass. I've rebuilt most of it. Beefed up the bulkheads and added a nice 4" bulwark. Electric and water systems have been completely redone-I've got almost 1000 amps of battery power. I'm working on the interior for the winter-new cabinets, ceiling, heating and a/c (I've got a nice Dickinson propane heater-I'm adding an Espar Diesel heater and built-in A/C). In January a friend is going to help me weld an arch for the stern. KevinH
Hey Kevin, my name is Jim. I am 35 and a South Philly native. I am currently working on a lobsterboat outta' Hingham, Ma. My fising season is coming to an end in January and I am interested in your offer. Drop me a message and we'll talk. Peace....
Hi Think you are the right person I am lookin' for... I am From Georgia, (Not USA, Europe) My dream is to make some kind of sea traveling community, at the first why not to begin with 2 men? I do not know exactly what kind of man are you lookin' for... I am strong, fast learner, educated, friendly and easy going... as I told u already I want to create an international community and that would be the best practice for me, and even if you are interested I could tell you more about this project of mine and would be happy to hear more about you too... So I m waitin' for your reply
Kevin, Irwin 40 is a very nice boat! One of my clients sold his house to buy an Irwin 68 and he now takes charters out of Newport Beach. I have a Chrysler Mutineer and am building a 32' Cheapeake Bay Bateau, hopefully to one day liveaboard, but also for blue water cruising. I'm told Bermuda and Key West are only 10 days sail from Baltimore. Good luck!
