Yesterday, I was watching Fox News and I heard the phrase "no shoes on" so I looked at the TV to see a picture of a guy running barefoot. I was like, "Sweet, a barefooter story on the news!" They interviewed him, he said that the impact is a lot lower when you run barefoot and that the knee pains he once had are gone. His wife calls his habit Neandrathal and the female anchors (one of them was barefoot) offered to show him a place for a pedicure. They had him race the male anchor -who was barefoot- and the male anchor won, so the runner owed him $20  . The runner said he runs 50 miles a week for training, all barefoot. My dad jokingly commented that his knee pain wasn't really gone, he probably just forgot about it because his feet hurt so much. I get vibes that he wasn't totally joking, though...
I'm a bare foot runner who regularly runs over 50 miles per week on pavement. No joint pain whatso ever! check out http://www.runningbarefoot.org/ and give it a go. Your life will never be the same!
He is puting on a little one mile barefoot run on January 1. I was thinking about trying that out as he is in my town. So little time to toughen up the feet and there is snow on the ground now.
