Im looking for some like minded people who are also tired of the day to day hassles of modern society. What I propose is to give it all up to live in the wilderness for awhile. I am experienced in both camping and survival skills and am looking for other individuals who share the same passion for the great outdoors and are not afraid of some hard work. Wilderness living will be both beautiful and lifechanging but it will also be full of challenges and hardships. Ideally I want to get in contact with people who are serious about living in the wild and who have the much needed experience of wilderness survival. I have been researching this idea for a year and a half now and have been camping all my life so I am well prepared. This is not something we can just jump right into though it will require carefull planning that involves every member of the group. If any of this interests you then please dont hesitate to leave a message in this thread or drop me an email.

best regards to everyone who reads this, and to everyone that doesnt as well,

    Nate

Yes, very interested actually. Its been a lifelong dream of mine to live in the wilderness, free of dependence. I've done plenty of research on the subject and have been hunting, fishing, camping, and boating for my entire life.

I'm interested as well, I'm an experienced camper but don't know many survival skills. I would definitely be willing to learn though! What state are you planning on doing this in, because I'm in GA.

Yeah gotta agree with oldwolf, it's just gonna happen. I'm gonna live on my own in the wilderness this summer, and I'll go to college next year. Depending on whether or not I feel like sticking it out I'll either stay there or I'll go out in the wilderness. Either way, after I graduate I'm leaving and not looking back over my shoulder. I have a good feeling about what I may find in the wilds of West Virginia and maybe in Maine too.

well as for where this will take place I am open to anywhere that is free from society but keep in mind that I am Canadian so I do have a preference for the great white north but I can be convinced of other living arrangements. As for just doing it I have but now when I embark upon this longer journey I know from experience that i will need to do it with others as well. i am just looking for like minded people to share this opportunity to live free with.

i believe you in that i truly do but i doubt how safe or productive the endevour will be without an extra set of hands. but i have read your other postings in the commune section on how so few groups are able to actually start up because of how hard it is for many people to unite under one vision and understand that im just worried about how well my endevour will be without some help at all

I'm more of a southern man myself, the harsh northern winters would be very tough to survive, and I've never been one for the cold.

It would be hard to be united with other people in the wilderness, for after a while the same exact problems would develop that we face here in society would arise. Unless all people involved were very intelligent and happy, then greed, vanity, and gluttony would destroy what they have created.

    hey guys,

I really do understand why any one would want partners in any endeavors. You just gotta hope that as you live your vision it'll inspire others to live their vision and that one or several people will have near enough the same vision (like-mindedness)and feel like they would like to Work together.
But if you put off anything till everything is just right - it never happens.
And something we Learn is that we only have this Now. What will Be, is totally uncertain...even if we will be there to be part of it. What was past, is gone, and the only way it can be changes is how we see it. Everyone (yah me too) tends to live in the future....and that is lesson that we have to Learn to change or our dreams will wait for another to lo(i)ve them enough to Be in the Now of the Doing.
If we are not doing ...and taking Action (not talk) to make it happen is part of the doing...then to think we are is to live in denial of what IS.
And I know talk (communication ) is very important, but without adding action the Intent becomes but good intentions that usually never happen...and we live in the imagination we spawn with our hot air.... the substance is not present.
Took me a long time to learn that...hope you guys learn it earlier than i did.

Blessings along the way - are the lessons Learned...for they help us to be able to shape our future

    Namaste

it would seem to me that the best way to meet like minded people for said adventure would be to embark on it.

sad truth is that you will not be completely alone for any length of time if your talking about doing this in the eastern united states no matter where you go.
i would assume the same could be said for canada as the east holds the majority of its population as well.
there are more people than you think wandering the forests.
there is not near the isolation one would find elsewhere on this continent.

it would however seem to be a ideal place for one to embark on such a excursion with little experience for the same reasons.

    just do it....

Yeah, when I do go out into the wild, for a few years I'll travel wherever I please across America from the Rockies to Arizona, from the Black Hills of the Dakotas to the backwoods of the Virginias and many more places. To find a place that you will truely call home, you must go and see what other options are available to you to be perfectly confident that your decision is right.

Hi there. I have been all over the web, finding people like us. You seem like a person who would enjoy a tribal life. Here is some information that I have been posting about.

“I hope to accomplish this goal to come by about this August/September. I am only interested to let people come who are at least 18 and just want to be happy. Who have a huge desire to love and just be loved. To get someplace where there is no yelling, no drugs, and no fast paced society.

    This is my goal:

I am looking for approximately ten to twenty other people to come with me and form a Tribe. We will fly out of the country, with pooled money, to someplace uninhabited. Most likely the Amazon Jungle in South America if we can attain legal rights.

We will start a basic life that is much slower and less stressful than what society has become. We will live off the land by means of crop and animals. I am looking for people with survival skills. People willing to teach other how to hunt or farm. There will be much research on how the Indians survived. With lots of experimenting and hardships, we will create our own, English speaking tribe.

Within this tribe, women and men will be considered equal. The expectations will be the same for both. All jobs of survival, such as hunting, preparing food, or making cloths, will fall on both hands. We will survive by being a unit.

Anyone who wishes to join this tribe, must be willing to live through hardships such as hunger. You must see the reality of living like this. There will be no soap or shampoo. We will find a place by water so bathing can happen there. Hair will grow and bugs will bite. I don’t want people who will get cold feet after living like this for a few months.

This new life, will be a life will thrive by happiness, not money or greed.

You can talk with me at mackmanx@gmail.com

When do you plan on doing this? This has been a goal of mine for a long time.

It would be better with more people. I thought about doing alone but would be better with someone else around. Let me know when you plan on going because I would love to go.

sounds luvly, if it were a fairy tale type thing lil bro,,, but you fail to think about many of the illusions you have and reality base them... How many survival skills do you think you have and how many have you actually tested n tried...

i personally love the whole leader thing.. a tribe with a 17 year old as a leader is destined to fail..

now now kids,, before ya bash me,,think, lets go abstract, who do you think would be more qualified to lead,a 17 year old that has spent his whole life practicing his survival skills or a 30 year old whos done the same? experience and maturity is what counts, and 99% of 17 year olds dont have near enough of either to lead ...

that being said,,the only 17 year old i would follow into the amazon would be one that was born and raised there. sure as hell wouldnt be some kid that self proclaimed himself tribe leader before there was even a tribe.

on a side note,,isnt that a bit arrogant???

The first location of out of the county cannot happen. The easiest way to become a permanent resident is to marry, and that is out of the question.

So with that in mind, location would have to be within the U.S. I am looking at land parcels 100 or more acres to buy, making our situation, legally, a lot easier. I don't want to make any rash choices though. I think travel would be very useful in getting to know the climates and wildlife of each state. I hope to leave sometime this summer, early fall if all works out well. That give us a good eight months of planning and working out who’s coming.

You have a point there. One who has had more years of training would certainly have more experience.

As to being arrogant, that is not my intention at all. Our tribe would actually be run on what everyone thinks is right. The leader's job would mainly be to organize. The name “Amazon Tribe Leader” is just a name I entered in to join the site. If I thought there was someone among those who will be accompanying me, who I felt would do a better job leading, then I would certainly hand over the job.

Not all of Canada is cold. In fact, it reaches about 40 degrees in the summer in BC (pacific west coast)... that's about 110 farhenheit (sp?).
