Anyone have their trees up yet?

I bought a cheap 5 foot artificial tree since christmas with a 1 1/2 year old this year might be hard with a bigger tree. So this tree went on a table and I decorated it last night. It's so pretty, but I'm sure I'll be sick of it in 2 weeks. I usually don't decorate this early, but I'm going to try to be in the christmas spirit this year for my daughter. She won't remember it, but she'll have fun!

I'm sure that the majority of you guys don't get involved with the decorating on this forum, but I thought it was fun. I put some buffalo snow under it, and this morning my cat was curled up under the tree on the snow. It was the sweetest thing.

lol omg that is way too early for me. I didn't even want to look at xmas stuff until november was over, but I caved 2 days early.

 

Our tradition is the night after Thanksgiving. I love coming downstairs and seeing a big ass tree in the living room.

 

theres a bigger fake one in the home theatre room

usually dont get our real one till like december 10th around there

 

my mom decorates for christmas right after thanksgiving, she just put the tree up and decorated it today.. i wish i was there for it! i always helped her decorate the tree.


but anyway, jadesmom, my cat does the SAME thing with our snow under our christmas tree. lol

 

what the hell is buffalo snow?

 

i hate fake trees. we will get a huge real tree soon, maybe next weekend or something. i love the smell of fresh pine that comes from it.

 

i want to know what buffalo snow is as well. my dad bought this shitty artificial tree like four or 5 years ago and we've been using it ever since. i think he only paid 20 or 30 bucks for it.

i miss real trees. but me and the other kids do all the decorating!

 

I couldnt find my little tree when i was back at my parents house but i did find some lights so the lamp, mini fridge, and my futon have the lights on them.

 

if i get one my dogs just gonna knock it over so i dont know. they make your house smell good though

Hmm yeah I'll usually get my tree about 10 days before christmas. I love christmas time, but my dad hates it with a passion

 

I got my hannaka bush up and ready. Only 3 more days. Im usually counting down the days, but i didnt even realize it started on tuseday until yesterday. Gotta love the hollidays with changing dates.

 

lol I never heard of buffalo snow either until this year. I found a package of it in this store called "the christmas tree shops." I think it's pretty much only around new england though so some of you may not know what that store is. It's like a cheap store that sells everything!

And buffalo snow actually comes from buffalo ny so I think that's where it got it's name. It's just this fluffy cotton blend that looks like snow. It's almost like fake spider web stuff in the way that it's stretchable. I'm sure you can buy it anywhere where they sell christmas decorations.

I used to like real trees too, but when I started putting them in my own apartments did I realize that spiders that go dormant live in the trees, and wake up and crawl around your house. Also, the needles are too much to control, and you have to water it. Plus I don't have to worry as much about fire hazards with a fake tree.

 

Well I am a big fan of real trees, but they are sooo damn expensive and we are pretty tight budget wise this year. I just picked up a small 32inch fiber optic tree from walmart, with a small star and a few bulbs for around 15 total. It's on our cedar chest and all lit up. Heck I spent more on our starburst (not the candy) light set that is hanging above it. It's nice and our daughter lovbes it, but I will go back to buying real trees once I can afford it.

 

i got so high and sat there and watched my parents put up lights....my mom gets all these trippy color changing lights so i was just tripppin all day

 

my family sells christmas trees so i gotta say (for my dad's sake) screw the fake ones, although i get ya on all the reasons they are kinda a pain. we sell 'em really cheap too like $10-20. i don't live at the house anymore so i guess i will miss the huge tree we always had. we have like a 15ft ceiling and since we sell em my mom always picks out the hugest one, my dad cuts it and drags it inside and gets all pissed and frustrated and says how he want's a charlie brown tree and then me my mom and little bro decorate. that was the tradition...
