Psychedelics have already provided many benefits for humanity at large, in ways that they continue to do so. Quite simply no other tool yet exists that so quickly and (relatively) easily shatters our preconceived notions of “reality.” It took an unusual genius to provide the mathematics to prove the relativity of time/space but through psychedelics we can actually perceive such phenomena. Whether or not you believe in a “spiritual” nature of humanity many examples exist of psychedelic awakenings to the bigger picture and giving a sense of hope and fulfillment as well as a drive towards a better tomorrow. Psychedelics alter behavior and perception in fairly predictable ways and allow us all a better understanding of our own mental processes at both a personal and global level, all psychoactives do so in fact but the psychedelics all seem to open humanity to what Aleister Crowley calls the “Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel.” This has nothing to do with Christianity or spirituality and everything to do with finding one's Higher Self, or the person you have the potential to become. I feel that with the proper attitude and approach one can use psychedelics to consistently and permanently alter one's own consciousness to better appreciate and interact with everyday reality. Each and every person who approaches their own potential pushes the potential of humankind forward that much further, and these days with extinction looming we need every push we can get.

Probably a reason why the US outlawed it from the public in the 60s.

Who knows the exact real reason, however it would be quite extreme if that actually was one of the reasons. If there was medical potential I don't see why it got such a high schedule, perhaps because of the epidemic it was causing in the US as far as recreational use went? Some of the studies about having it help people break loose of addictions and psychological problems seemed interesting.

Hmm, back in the day hippes were looked down upon and still are by many, so that might be why drugs became illegal cause hippes used them and the cooprate world didn't like that, and not very many hippes vote so the coorps who didn't care for drugs voted agianesed what hippes liked cause it was like a fued in a sence. Voters don't need a logical reason to vote one way or another, why do you think we have so many laws that don't make sence.

If they did there homework most people would have relized baning drugs is a bad move.

good post indeed, but how are we gonna get it in the heads of the "non-believers". i mean in my perception most people are more scared of mushrooms than cocaine or something like that!
