I wanted to open up a discussion about religion and athiesm and what you think the purpose of life is and what the purpose of your individual life is.

Me personally, I'm a firm believer in Christianity and I wanted to have a good open discussion about why some people believe or discredit different religions (christianity, islam, buddhism, judaism, etc) and why they believe or discredit the beliefs of atheism.

When I think about my purpose here on Earth, that makes me believe more in my religion. I do look at life as a test and process of helping us mature and preparing us for the afterlife. I think there are so many things we can't explain because we don't have the capacity to understand it. Humans can't imagine eternity or a beginning of all things or even an ending of all things. Mean, a time before time existed or even an end of time. To not believe in something is almost another way of saying we are just living here on Earth with no purpose and we just grow old , have kids and eventually die. There's gotta be more to life and I'm curious to everyone perspectives on this topic.

I can see how someone can say that religion is shrewd, if you wanna use scientific methods of discrediting it, but I also think science can help prove religion or at least that there is a God or a higher creation. I'm not going to go to far in my thoughts right now until I see what some of you have to say.

With all due respect, the meaning of life is not known. The purpose of our lives is what we make of them while we exist in our present form. This is how I see it,a wondrous mystery.Believe in something--believe in nothing.I'm not sure it matters in the end.We will find out when we change form if the theists are correct-and if they are not, we will not find out -and will certainly return to the dust from whence we came.
