I started my first grow ever about a month ago or so. Everything was going fine, no contaminated jars or anything. I birthed them a week ago or and now there are several pins and several shrooms growing (some 4-5 inches tall). There is at least 100 all together. Soooo, last night I noticed an area of a cake turning blue. I thought it was bruised somehow. Today I come home from work to see some green fucking mold or something (blue-ish green-ish shit). It was on one side of onee cake, and on a side of another cake. A few pins had a little bit of the green shit around their bases. I cut off the green areas and noticed it's dark green under the surface, just a little layer of it, about a milimeter thick.. I want to know if the untouched shrooms are still safe, and if I should harvest them NOW to safe any dangers. Or maybe it is all still safe? The mold had no smell to it besides the same earthy smell the cakes have had all along. I'm amost tempted to eat the 3 pins that were contaminated to see if I don't die. Lol.

    WHAT SHOULD I DO?!!

    Only experienced growers please.

heheh, I ate the 3 that had green shit around the bases. Call me a dumbass, but I' be fine. I aso ate a few pins that I knew would be aborts. Actually should wind up being a strong high. I estimate it being 1g if dried.

Well dude, I wouldn't risk that again. I know it's a waste, but all the guides say to specificly scrap it if you witness ANYTHING unusal forming in the jars. I'm glad you were fine, some other people haven't been that lucky in the past...

yea, i'm going to harvest all the shrooms tomorrow. i know they are fine still becase i'm halfway trippin from just a little bit. I think if you wait too long, the contamination will take over, but for now the side with shrooms are contam-free. well im confused and i dunno if what I said makes any sense

they probably will be fine but just because only one side of the cake has the contam doesn't mean the shrooms won't, the mycelium is a living network that carry nutrients, moisture, and even contams to the fruiting shrooms

So you should have a couple individual trays inside of a larger bin with a lid on it. Any tray with even the slightest bit of odd color to it should be tossed. The whole tray.

The shrooms were already almost mature when the mold/stuff started appearing. I harvested and ate them with no problems. Most molds are not harmful, and I tested with a very small dose at first. I tripped more off of the same shrooms, with other people and it was fine.

The new harvest doesn't have any mold and will be ready to harvest tomorrow. They are so fat I can't wait.

EDIT: And the mold wasn't on the shrooms. The shrooms looked normal and I cut some in half to see if they looked healthy on the inside as well.

Time out...I just thought of something. When water touches a cake, it turns blue. And if it was mold, it would continue to rapidly grow / expand. Sounds like you might be good to go after all.
