I believe the word "witch" is a bad translation from the Hebrew. A better translation would be "poisoner".
"Poisoner" i.e. someone who uses poison to injure or kill others. Which fits with the general propensity towards the death penalty around that time.
My mistake - I should put on my glasses - I am sorry I misread your post... Still, I don't really support the death sentence for poisoners either. But if this is true, then what is the xian objection to Witchcraft that doesn't include poisoning? Would it mean that the heads of tobacco companies for instance should face summary execution?
I think Cora Anderson of the Feri Tradition got it right: a verse that was probably added much later than any oral tradition ever taught.
Gurulite. Could look it up.. but i'd like u to tell me your tale. About how women were trod into the dirt. For having compassion. Occam
Most people don't consider the monopoly the early church had on almost every aspect of day to day life. So called 'witches' were the greatest threat to that power. back in the day, if you got sick you had two options. one was to get a priest to pray for you (expensive and pointless, at least from a purely medical view), while a witch would have knowledge of local flora and fauna, as well as an ancient oral tradition dictating their uses.
Eugene Like terrorists in our times.. they must be burnt But there are none. so we make them. There were no witches There are no terrorists No real witches so women with healing knowledge were targeted Those hated by men with no knowledge. Osama WILL NEVER BE CAUGHT. You dont capture the devil, u use him to control your plebs. Those with power make them [devils] to decieve and obfuscate the small minds of average people. The screaming hysteria of the evangelist or the patriot. Humans abandon their reason through laziness and become morons. Putty in the hands of those with no ethics or morals. They are the church They are the state Occam
