Is there relief in sight for all of us weary bud smokers up here in the Garden state, and greater New York area? Prices have gotten out of whack here in recent years. I know people who are paying upwards of $600 per ounce for fire (Kine Bud, or more commonly known as Kind Bud). And for those who dont have the foresight or a large enough bank account there are always Dub sacks which are now a .6 gram bag of bud which is down from the .7 it was just last summer. Lucky to pack a couple bowls with that. It makes me want to start growing my own bud, but with the way things are this is just not feasable(i live with my sister and her kids currently). I have noticed in the past 6 mos however that there is a real buzz around grow rooms and it seems that more and more people are beginning to talk about and express interest in starting one in their own home and frankly this is what is needed to correct the price problem. So here I am posting one small message with a simple hope for lower prices for bud. Lets take this message and create a weed revolution here in the tri-state area. Frankly, weed is about relaxing and is usually shared with friends so maybe we should all become a little more friendly and look out for our fellow tokers. There used to be a weed community that existed a sort of brotherhood where has that spirit gone to? The Drug dealer is robbing us of more than just our money lets get our weed back out of their hands and into our hands so we can all afford to smoke on a daily basis and not rely on some middle man who never seems to answer your call when you need them.
From what I understand the price rise in NY has to do with increased demand more then limited supply, ppeople just don't want beasters anymore and there is only so much KB around. The price of beasters has been droping for years, in the mid 90s it was as high as 48lb in NYC, these days it's 28 . Headies are harder to grow then you think and alot more people want them these days. Add to that more aggresive interdiction efforts on the N.E to NY routes and there you have it.
i don't live in the NY/NJ area (used to live in new england though), but to honest i don't think you'll see a drop in prices any time soon. there are a few ways to save money: (a) grow your own. from the sounds of it, not an option but hopefully you can find a way to get your own apartment in the near future. (b) befriend someone who is willing to grow for/with you. have anyone you know who has an apartment who would be willing to grow a plant or two? in that case, you can partner up, split costs of growing, and get a couple ounces at grow cost every 3-4 months. (c) smoke less, or quit smoking. not my choice, but if it's either food or weed then sometimes we just have to accept the true necessities in life. otherwise, i think you'll just have to keep coughing up the money. it sucks, but that's life.
6 hour drive (finger lakes area)an your lookin at 1000 a pound for middies.. if it was me id be driving every few months an picking up my stash..
^Not to be a weed snob, but in the NYC/Boston maket "mids" is considered same as shwag and stictly for high school kids.
well,, this dood was expressing a desire for cheap weed he made no mention of what grade weed.. any idiot who will only smoke kind deserves his bank account to be raped in my opinion..
Just a question of personal prefrence, I don't drink shitty beer and I don't smoke shitty weed. I'd say I wouldn't smoke rather then smoke shwag, but never found myself forced to make the choice. If you bought that $1000lb you would have to smoke it all yourself or make friends with some teenagers and sell it to them. The last time I touched shwag was 5-6 years ago. I knew some collage kids who moved it but it got to the point where they couldn't get rid of it any more. Plus $1000 seems high for a lb of shawg espeacally in upstate NY where beasters go for $2000 or even less in bulk.
The point I was trying to make though is that the prices on headdies should come down eventually. I hate to say it but it will happen once the gangsters get involved and start produceing on a massive scale, just like what happened with beasters and the Vietnamiese and bikers.
Not claiming to know everything, but I do know alot about the herb industry in the Northeast. The reason I try to share what I know is because it's always pissed me off how cagey people in the know can be about the larger marketplace.
you dont know what your talking about, folks drive from boston to get that that you are calling shwag. once again any fool that calls good middies shwag and insists on smoking only kind is nothing more than a weed snob an deserves to get raped on prices.. an its obvious your view of middies is skewed as it appears you are one of those weed snobs so there is no reason to continue this conversation as you obviously will have to be right.. have a nice day..
