Myelodysblastic Syndrome Help

Hi, if there is anyone out there who has any information on MDS, I would like to talk to you. I have a friend who was recently diagnosed, and is having problems with low platelet counts. She had her second episode of pooping blood yesterday, and is in the hospital right now.

 

This seems very relevant:

MDS may be diagnosed at any age but is rare in childhood and very uncommon in young adults. It is likely that all childhood cases would be referred to a nationally recognised centre of excellence.

What age is your friend? Where are they being treated? Do they have health insurance?
