I have been in the planning for this for many weeks now. After a lot of study halls spent researching and looking around on the internet, I've found the best way to bond with San Pedro(or Peruvian torch). I've found that most people who go the safe route in eating Saint Peter choose 12 inches and are disappointed by the strength of their trip. I believe that this amount is the perfect amount, as long as it's preceded by 2 or 3 grams of syrian rue.(about a teaspoon an a half) As long as you follow erowids guidelines on ingesting MAOI's, you should be fine and you should experience the good and solid journey you're looking for. My friend talked about this in an earlier thread a couple days ago(he was my guinea pig). I gave him about 8 or 9 inches worth of one of my many pedros with about 2 grams of seeds. After watching him go about his trip, i concluded that it could be just a wee bit stronger so I think my amounts are pretty reasonable. If anyone here wants to know where to obtain pedro, get it off ebay (zircon6-good cactus-good price) and if you want a big ass bag of syrian rue you don't have to look any farther also.(it's pretty fuckin cheap and could come in handy if you're abundance of materials is low) When say 12 inches- it goes for the cactus i've got( it's pretty skinny) Thicker pedro may require less. It may not be the strongest trip of your life, but it should still be pretty nice. You don't need 4 feet to have a good time with Peter.(If you do, then you probably have really weak pedro) If you wondered unto this thread to find a recipe, you're out of luck; but there are already hundreds on this site so you don't need to have mine. After calculating how much Pedro I have and how much I've spent aquiring it, I've worked out that it costs about 10-15 dollars per trip.(which is pretty nice for where I live-Wisconsin) PS- if you buy from zircon, buy in bulk- i got 7 and he threw 2 extra 1.5 footers in there(free)
I've never used any MAOI's before. There is a wide spectrum of reactions to MAOI combos, it all depends on the individual. That is a bummer that you have to pay for your cactus, in California I get can as much as I want at any time for free. That is cool that you can conserve, I hope that your future trips are awesome. Good thread.
Here is an Erowid link to some info. relating to the interaction of mescaline and maoi's. http://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/ayahuasca_apa/aya_sec4_mescaline.shtml Whatever you do, be careful.
Yea I got my 5 babies off of eBay so trust me there is no scam involved and no it does not grow wild... and it does take years to grow anywhere from 3-10 depending on the species and strain. But it was unfortunate that I didn't get to experience old Peter but i had bridges ii, san pedro, peruvian torch(im not sure if it's the same as san pedro, it has been about a year) and 2 other non-pschoactive cactii . And if you get them in cuttings make sure you don't hold off on them like I did... because I waited at least two weeks after recieving them after paying $75 in total and it was too long. They were in a backpack under an RV to hide from the general public but my twin bro was incercerated at the time and I planned on doing it with him. So as i returned to them they had molded over and turned a completely nasty brown color... so I was kinda bummed at the big ol' loss... but the future is always near, i just needa paycheck to come strollin thru.
There is an ENORMOUS farm 10 minutes drive from my house dedicated specifically to Cacti and Succulents. You can buy pre-potted Trichocereus ranging from 1-6 feet, there are hundreds of them and every different kind. BUT there are also free buckets lying on the ground everywhere with a bunch of Pedro cuttings in them about 1-2 feet, and I when I plan on cooking I just grab a few of those and I am set. They are only open on Saturdays and Sundays, but at the front gates there are tons Pedro's jutting out of and over the fence, all you really need is a big ass knife. I have a garden going at my house so I buy alot of different Cacti there, but this place is wow such an amazing place it is acres of these strange alien weird looking plants. Next time I go I will bring a camera, oh also they have these huge 20 foot tall Dinosaur sculptures made out of metal in the middle of everything. You guys would not believe, they have San Pedros growing that are over 10 feet with dozens of stocks on them.
I would feel wary of ingesting ANY substance with an MAOI honestly... Cactus doesn't cost much and if you boil it down then an extra dose oughtn't give too much trouble. Broad-spectrum brain alteration doesn't appeal so much to me though, thus my lack of experience with poly-substance interactions. If anyone decides to do this: READ UP ON MAOIs FIRST! THEY CAN MAKE YOU SERIOUSLY ILL AND/OR DEAD
Personally, as long as you follow the guidelines for MAOI's everything should be fine. when i did this i ate the rue in gel caps, after that i added a little water to my dried pedro powder to make it into a pedro dough which tasted completly neutral. It was a good time and i recomend it to anyone curious enough to do a legal trip.
There are no guidelines for doing this. I would be inclined to start with lower dose of mescaline or phenylethylamines in general. But do not take a booster dose! Wait at least a week (preferably two) before attempting the experiment with an increased dose. It is known to be dangerous with tyramine and amphetamines. Call the MAOI (1) and the other substance (2). It is my theory that it is most deadly when dose of (2) is escalated while (1) remains active. The reasoning is that the psychoactive mediating receptors have desensitized yet the substance remains active. The result is that (2) reaches a critical concentration that causes dysregulation of the heart.
