This is something I ponder about and even saw people like Anton Wilson or Mckenna pondering till there end days.

Will the 2012 transition be violent in any way?

In my view of reality, it's going to be all peaches and cream like flying up a massive electric staircase to utopia.

But of course, thats me. Not the collective society. When leaving my mind I still see great possibility for a high percentage of people having to work something out by violent means. It really makes me wonder.

Of course though, maybe more and more people will relax and the rate of people who "get it" will increase exponentially and 2012 will mark when that merely reaches 100% of the population?

Or maybe it means merely when it reaches the majority, which will then cause some great war. I don't know. Like I said, this is still something I ponder every now and then. Some things I've read put together an argument that although yes it's going to be glorious and peaceful post 2012. There is going to be some great discourse and trauma that must ensue before hand.

For example, From Isreal Regardie's opening in Prometheus Rising.
"The transition to a higher order of functioning—or hooking
on to a higher neural circuit—is often accompanied by considerable
anxiety or a turbulence in personal life which seems as if the
organism were falling apart or breaking up. This phenomenon of
instability is really the way that every living organism—societies,
human primates, chemical solutions, etc.—shakes itself, as
it were, by myoclonisms or similar convulsions into new combinations
and permutations for higher and new levels of development.
So perhaps the space-time Utopia of a new area of primate
exploration has some validity after all, as indicating that the
more vigorous the disturbance or myoclonism the greater the
quantum jump into a higher neurological circuit.
This is one reason why I firmly believe that the transition to the next spiral
will not be smooth nor without much suffering and chaos."

Those of us who have gotten the glimpse did probably go through a bit of personal suffering and chaos. But what happens if say, 45% of the population collectively goes through that unkowingly? People really will think the world is ending and start doing quite some ludicrous things.

As I've said before, there is no such thing as a clean break.
Of course if there were to be a massive shift in societal
consciousness, there will be those who project their
personal inner termoil externally in order to grasp something
    tangible and momentarily real.

The result of the events on December 21, 2012 will be awesome, and for some reason I feel that I will be a major figure in the events. Truthfully, I'm very curious about what will happen, but at the same time I'm very skeptical. Is it a scientific fact the the poles will shift?

If so, maybe mankind will break off its reliance on electricity and advanced technology? Will life go back to the innocence and simplicity of the past?

If I remember correctly, they will only be at an apparent worthy
of note switching beginning position, not that they will complete
a total shift over ANY kind of short period. Also, the poles have
shifted position several times in the planets existace, I dont
think this is really anything but an addition to the wonder of the
    2012 phenomena.

This will happen sooner or later, its a matter of resources.
But the innocence of the past? I dont know if that ever existed
lol I see what your getting at, but this will cause much devestation
before healing can being, and in that very sense it will not be
    innocent.
I sort of see the massive conscious shift to be more related
to the Sun revolving around its dual, causing the next stage
in the planets evolution to kick in. This, also has happened
several times, and each stage makes up 1/4 of a 24,000
year cycle, including (in western terms) dark, bronze, golden
or whatever they are, I only know the hindu terms.
Basically it means we will enter the 3rd stage, were the
fine, subtle electricites of existance will be MUCH more
understood then at present, enabling us to open up to
and receive more prana, chi, cosmic, divine energy, if you
will, ushering in a new age of spiritual harmony led by people
like those in the earlier parts of this current revolution of
the Sun's dual Star, Buddha, Krsna, Christ, etc.
It's coming, believe it or not but it is coming and honestly,
we will be no where near around to experience it in our
current form...We, just like puppets, play our part into
    \a greater understanding.

Nostradamus speaks about this, and predicts that the world will explode when the poles shift on December 21, 2012. I'd much rather believe what Relayer is saying, because it's what I have hoped will happen, but I was wondering what other people thought of Nostradamus's view.

Whatever happens, it is likely that not everybody will survive.

To be honset, I've never read much of Nostradamus, but
I would like to. I doubt that on this polar shift there will
be an explosion lol, but Im no where near as smart as
him so I will remain silent on the issue.
BUT! Think of how much evidence there is pointing to a
spiritual awakening on a WORLDWIDE scale!
Jesus said the Kindgom of God is within you, and that
He will come again. HE, referring to Christ, aka Christ
Consciousness, the reality that we are all awake in the
mind of God. The Christ Consciousness Evolution of
mankind as a whole is coming, according to Him. Christ
can not come back until WE become Christ, ourselves.
The perfect person, if you dig.
Then you have Krsna speaking of the terms of Brhama
and His evolutionary cycles, creation, sustainment, and
destruction, only to be reborn again.
Then all the rest of the prophecies that are too numerous
to get into in a single post.

God does NOT demand that we realize His existance, this
would be a violation to the concept of Free Will, and thus
are we made in His Image.
But, God wants us to know Him, thus reincarnation, Love,
meditation, yoga, etc. and He will make it easier for this
to become common practice, by means of mass evolution.
Cosmic Conscioussness only started appearing in human
history slowly, a few at first, then more and more as time
    goes by.
Krsna, then Buddha and the Buddhists, Christ and Paul and
the rest of the "true Christians", Mohammed, and more
modern Truth Realizers like Walt Whitman and in my opionion
    the jazz musician Don Cherry.
People DO turn onto God, but like the evolution of music,
the evolution of the human perception of color, sense of
fragrance added to the sense of smell, and morality, these
things take time to grow. But eventually, they become
    the norm.

Do you really believe there is a god?
IMHO: I believe the universe is our god. Or the cosmos, if you will. But not as though it were a living being. More like a consciousness. A consciousness that "banged" the world into being. (I mean like the big bang, not banging like sex. ;)) Therefore we should respect our creator, but not necessarily worship him.
If we did start living a simpler life closer to the earth I believe this would be a way to respect the earth. The earth sustains our life, should we not help sustain it?
That is religion to me. Not worshipping a God and going to church and following strict rules, but living simply, respecting others, enjoying our lives, and living off the land.
Of course this is only my opinion, and my thoughts are scattered...

To be honest, nothing is going to happen in 2012. If anyting, oil will be running out faster than expected, and society will violently collapse. Yay.

Relayer, you are a very intelligent man! I have many of the same religious beliefs as you, except you have quite a bit more knowledge than me in some areas, particularly the Eastern religions, which I only started studying about 6 months ago, and I still only have a basic knowledge of most of it. I'm very curious though, because there is a ton of good material in those religions.

I come from a Christian background, and I believe in Christ and the Bible, but I also believe that nearly every religion in the world has unique lessons to teach, From compiling a lot of these lessons, I have come to similar beliefs to yourself.

I'll be back to contribute more to this thread when I get some free time, but at the moment I've got stuff to do and music to play...

Yea, I do belive in God. The macrocosmic form, or the cosmos
as you say here, is most definitley God. But the microcosmic
form, the universe within our own bodies, is also God. God is
all of it and some of it at the same time. There is no actual
way to 'perceive' God, we can only feel it in the form of love
and through means of meditation or bhakti yoga (devotional
    union).
The Infinite, the Absolute, the Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer
of our delusive, dualistic existance is far beyond all mental
    comprehension.
Church, rules, diversity, all of this is against God's all
encompassing love for us equally. We can either respect
each others difference of opinion and live harmoniously, or
we can come to the realization that we can not define and
envision God because that IS limitation and seperation and
live harmoniously with the concept that our weak and pathetic
human consciousness is no where near qualified to give
attribution to the Absolute Form, or Brhama.
Love is what it's all about, all of those who acheived divine
perception will tell you that. Cosmic Consciousness came
to those who were fine tuned at around the same age,
between 30 and 35 for the most part, and they all felt a love
so overwhelming that words fall beyond far from filling in the
pivots of this wonderful sustaining energy.
Love is the glue that binds atoms together and love is what
keeps us alive, at the sub-atomic level and deeper.
The Earth does sustain us, very true of course, but it is Love
that holds the Earth together, as well as manages the
inconceivable cosmic manifestation. What would it be without
love? Pure chaos, if matter could even exist on that principle
alone (which it cant). How can one study so far into what
makes up this delusive existance (maya) and not come to
a realization that there is a code so completley perfect and
fulfilling in and of itself created by something beyond what
    we see?
Life is a dream, a cosmic dream, and we are being dreamed
by the mind of God, whatever it is, of course this is symbolic.
Reality is a movie we are all a part in, and we just need to
break out of the habit of staring at the screen and look up
at the light which is coded vibration, and then by means of
love and self discipline we can turn around fully and see what
is projecting the light onto the screen.

Well, I cant really answer that but I dont think we will
be much different in any way other than that we will
have evolved to a point at which all mankind is born
naturally with divine perception, or at least with the
potential to acheive it with a guarentee of it happening
    in their current lifetime.
But see the thing is, this cycle doesnt exactly end,
at least any time soon. 2012 is more or less a noticeable
date conceived by at least 2 different civilizations in 2
different continents, but if it means anything it is nothing
more than ushering in the transitional period of I believe
3000 years before we move into the 3rd of the 4 Yugas.
Most hindus believe we are currently in Kali Yuga, or the
Dark Age, but this is very incorrect and to be attributed
to a miscalculation that happened quite some time ago.
They say the cycle of the Sun's revolution is of a period
of a MUCH larger scale which is just wrong.
    Here, from Sri Yukteswar :
“The position of the world in the Dwapara Sandhi era at present (A. D. 1894) is not correctly shown in the Hindu Almanacs. The astronomers and astrologers who calculate the almanacs have been guided by wrong annotations of certain Sanskrit scholars (such as Kullu Bhatta) of the dark age of Kali Yuga, and now maintain that the length of Kali Yuga is 432,000 years, of which 4994 have (in A D. 1894) passed away, leaving 427,006 years still remaining. A dark prospect! And fortunately one not true.”

Nothing is coming to an immediate end, there are no clean breaks,
and mass scale spirituality will not be coming any time terribly soon.
But it is coming, and when it comes, it will also be forgotten, legendary,
like the ancient Chinese and Indian civilizations long gone and those
of the likes of Atlantis. Fairy tales, myths, stories. We are moving in
cosmic waves of remembering God and forgetting God, who is to say
how long this will go on for?

To help make more sense of what Im saying, here is another thing
Yukteswar said on the matter :
The sun also has another motion by which it revolves round a grand center called Bishnunavi which is the seat of the creative power Brahma, the universal magnetism. Brahma regulates Dharma the mental virtues of the internal world. When the sun in its revolution round its dual come to the place nearest to this grand center the seat of Brahma (an event which takes place when the autumnal equinox comes to the first point of Aries) Dharma the mental virtue becomes so much developed that man can easily comprehend all, even the mysteries of Spirit.

There are simpler ways to arrive at the truths these texts (Vedas &tc) allegedly elucidate. For example, Kali's wrath can be seen in natural disasters, Krishna & Radha play their love affairs out on the dancefloors of nightclubs around the world, and crazy folks that think the world is going to end in 2012 or even sooner can be seen begging on the street corners of every American city. These texts (Talmud, Baghavad Gita, Lotus Sutra, New Testament, Koran etc.) should be read with an open, curious, yet analytical mindset. Embrace their doctrine blindly at your own risk, but don't risk the sanity of others by trying to convice them that what was surely written to be taken figuratively is literal. peace & love

2012 doesn't necessarily mean the "end" of the world, but an end of an era. What we see now might change in that time to something more technologically advanced (I also heard that we gain new senses lol). I for one think it's possible. Also, I heard that the end of the world was suppose to take place in 2020. In case many of you don't know there is an asteroid that is suppose to come 400 miles of Earth.
