Hi everyone. I'm James. I was born a female, but lately I've been beginning to think maybe I'm actually a male. Well, really I'm pretty sure I'm a male. But I was wondering if anyone could tell me somethings about sex reassignment surgery and hormone therepy and it's possible side effects for FTM. I'm feeling very lost, confused, and scared about it. I'm only fifteen years old, so it's a really scary thing to me to think about having to go through. But I also know that if I do it, I will be able to be happy with who I am. Anyways, thanks a lot to anyone who can help me a little.
hey, i think i could help u out, im an ftm myself and have already been on hormones a while and am about to get top surgery, u can PM me or my aim is northernlytes. Theres a really good site u can get alot of info from aswell, its thetransitonalmale.com Hope i can help. -Aiden
Hiya Im 15 too and ftm. Im afraid for people our age there isnt much that surgeons and doctors will do. They generally wait until 16 at an absolute minimum to even consider anything. So facility wise things are generally rubbish. I have one useful website, its got a lot of links and some good stuff on: www.ftm.org.uk Theres another site called Mermaids. Its aimed at parents with transgendered children but it does have a lot of good information on it considering side effects of hormones and things like that: www.mermaids.freeuk.com Im sorry thats all I can think of really. But all I can really say is to research as much as you can about the hormones and the operations and really make sure your comfy with it all. Well I hope thats helped a bit. Im always here for a chat so pm me or email me. Hope everything goes well for you. Amy xx
I'm FTM. I've been on testosterone since I was 16 (I'm 17 now). I go through a local clinic (the Mazzoni Center) for medical care regarding trans related stuff. It's entirely possible to start HRT and even have top surgery when you're <18. You just have to know how to work around it. A good place to ask questions is the livejournal group (ftm.livejournal.com).
Ooh! How did you get everything happenning that quick. Im 15 at the moment and I thought I would have to wait until Im at least 18 before Id even stand a chance for hormones. Ive been referred to the portman clinic for January and Im so keen to get things sorted as fast as I can. Are the hormones ok or do they cause problems? Sorry to ask so many questions. Jus such a lovely thing to hear tht things might go quicker.
Wombat-- Is the Mazzoni center in Philadephia? And I was wondering how you managed to get started so early? I won't be able to start the transition til next year anyway, because I'm not in the US right now, but is there something I could have done earlier? I was looking at a clinic in Colorado but if there's a good one closer to home I would prefer that. Any info you can give me would be appreciated. PM me if you like. Peace-- Michael
