You know... Sometimes I really wonder why omnivores go out of their way to insult vegetarians. I mean, without any of us ever mentioning vegetarianism, other than the fact that we're vegetarians, all of a sudden its "MMM!! :ULLS OUT BIG JUICE STEAK::!!!!" "IM EATING A HAMBURGER RIGHT NOW!" This of course is online talk. I've found most people to be complete assholes online rather than in real life; most likely because they're more cowardly in person, where they can't hide behind a monitor and a keyboard. Sheesh. I was in a yahoo chatroom today, and I noticed people were talking about veganism. So I went "I'm a vegan." I mentioned this because they asked if vegans ate anything that used to be living. I said that vegans eat plants that used to be alive, but they didnt eat any animal products. I mean, that was basically the gist of it. I didn't really say anything else. Then holy fucking lordy god. I get bombarded with the most idiotic messages "MMM. ::CHOWS DOWN ON DEAD DEER::" Its amazing that these people are so uncivilized, and go out of their way to act like complete jackasses. I gladly mentioned that they most likely would never be able to kill an animal with their own two hands in real life, but they gave me a snazzy ol' comeback "::KILLS DEER AND EATS STOMACH::" Of course I'm sure if I went "::TAKES SAW AND SLICES LIVING HUMAN IN HALF, AND CHEWS ON STOMACH::" they would all be disgusted. Nothings immoral as long as it does't happen to their own species. Are they totally oblivious to the fact that we aren't the only animals on this planet? Especially not the only animals on this planet that have brains and nervous systems. Ok, maybe the other animals don't have as complex and advanced brains as ours. So? Does this mean we have the right to stuff them into over-crowded living conditions where they're forced to eat their own feces? Then skin them alive and leave them to drown in their own blood? "Oh! but no! This doesn't happen at all! And I know this because I'VE NEVER EVEN RESEARCHED IT! YEEHAWWWWWW!" Then of course if anything conflicts with the holy meat eating practice, it has to be associated with PETA! I mean my god! Who comes up with this shit! Animals live on happy farms and sing songs at 6 AM while they wait to be slaughtered by their happy disney farmers! Animal cruelty! You've been kicking that dog! ::goes home and eats hamburger:: God, we need to get some fucking facts straight. Just because a cow is a cow, doesn't mean it deserves to be slaughtered. Lord. Its like raping a human because its a human. Its just as sick, yet most people don't realize that because they have either: a)been brainwashed/brought up on the beliefs that animals live on happy little farms in the fresh clean air or b)are in denial. I don't give a fuck how big a chickens brain is! As long as it has a heart, a brain, a nervous system, and can "talk" (as in ::squawk:: or w/e a chicken does) I'm not eating it. Look at george bush! His brain is AMAZINGLY SMALL! You don't see me chowing down on his legs! Most omnis logic don't make sense. It just pisses me off. How can you justify killing a pig, but not justify killing a dog. Theres an imbalance here. Murder is murder. The meaning of it shouldn't change based on what species you are.

Keep your comments to yourself and stop acting like a pre madonna know it all. by the way, Check out some pictures of cows in other country's like sweeden. by the sound of it you stare day after day at pictures relating to animial cruelty and constintly become disgusted so much that you see more harm to the animials than the average farming jobob.
yeah it does suck, but i find it more in real life than on line - like when they find out that I am a veg, EVERYONE thinks they are being so witty and orginal when they go "sooophie, loook at my steeeeaaaaak" or "mmmm,cow" and wave meat in my face. It was only very midly amusing the first 40 or so times, but now...argh, just so over it.

Most of the time in my previous post, I just vented about the comments that I recieve from omnivores. And then the other time I stated the conditions of how factory farm animals are treated. I don't live in Sweeden, so I can't really do much about anything happening in Sweeden anyway, good farming conditions or not. Today when I was in class... this girl stepped on a katydid and went "HAHAHAHAHA I STEPPED ON A COCKROACH"!!! So I said, if you weren't as ignorant as you were, you'd know cockroaches don't jump like that and they aren't green... One of its legs came off and some green liquid leaked out of it... but for the most part it was ok so I picked it up and set it on a bookcase.... Anyway, why do people have to be so fucking stupid. They have to kill things just because they are able to. I live in the south and believe me... the stereotypes aren't that far off... Most people are just so used to it that they don't notice it. Besides... people just don't accept vegetarianism all the time just because it's "different" and most people arent vegetarian or vegan... I get the look all the time... It's... strange... This guy I know was like... "You lost weight"? and then I said I was a vegan and didn't eat dairy, eggs, meat... etc.. and he was like "That's bullshit.. I don't believe you".... then I recalled Kevin James and I told him "I started chewing sugarless gum"... (btw.... I don't even chew gum because of all the shit they put in it)...
Is being a dick a requisite fer being an omnivore? I don't go outta my way to piss people off, an usually when I post in the veg forum is to respond to somethin like "MEAT EATERS ARE MURDERING REDNECK ASSHOLES!!!!!" or somethin like that.
As an omni I'd have to say that we are in denial, all of us are aware that bad things happen to animals but we also see it as something that happens somewhere else and doesn't affect us and is certainly not related to that well packaged meat on the shelves in the local supermarket (I mean, something that glossy could never have REALLY been a cow). Quite frankly though, if you're in a chat room where there are kids/teens and you tell them you're a vegan then you're lining yourself up for trouble, a more mature audience should probably be sought for talking about being a vegan as most young ones have never even thought about it and see it as the weird unknown, hence the piss taking I would have though.
Totally agree I could throw anything pro veggie at my parents (have tried) but they won't take it on board because steak tastes good (rumor has it) and yes my brother makes stupid comments, but he's 15 and easily influenced. So I just leave them to it, easier on our santity that way. Treat others as you wish to be treated, hard as it may be. Can't go too far wrong.
