wellll...organic means its just grown/made without chemicals. if you eat lots of fruit and veggies and cut back on processed food you'll lose weight, but it doesnt matter whether its organic or not. but organic is probably better for your health, i mean, who wants to eat chemicals?

just have to watch sugar levels too when it comes to losing weight (and making sure that weight is fat and not muscle)...I recently lost 40 lbs from completely changing my eating habits...though exercise MUST be incorporated too.

I say that it doesn't matter if it is organic or not.

However, I know that some people subscribe to the theory that the pesticides in non-organic food tax the liver, then the liver is not able to metabolize efficiently, and then weight loss in hindered. Haven't encountered evidence backing this (haven't looked for it, to tell you the truth) but it is an interesting idea.

I think it does because chemicals and pesticides keep your digestive track and body from burning calories efficently

I would definitely agree with Green Faerie that losing weight has more to do with not eating processed foods (white rice, bread, pasta) and instead eating whole foods (brown rice, lentils, beans, quinoa). But Lace n Feet hit the mark when mentioning that the extra chemicals probably tax your liver. Many of these chemicals that are used in food making are known carcinogens. And about 80% of most chemicals out there in general haven't been tested thoroughly enough for their long-term health effects. It seems reasonable to stick to organic as much as possible when considering that some of these herbicides/insecticides/etc can be damaging to not just your liver but also other organs. All of which would effect the efficiency of your operating body and would probably make it harder for you to lose weight.

Um..yeah, no. Chemicals will not stop your body's digestion. They will absorb along with everything else. Your digestive tract does not burn calories - it absorbs them (except the few calories necessary for the digestive process). Chemicals will not stop your muscels and body functions from using as much calories.

Organic food has the same nutrient content as their chemical-flooded counterparts. HOWEVER- the pesticides in food are carcinageons. So, it will help with your cancer risk if you switch to organic, which could be even more useful when you struggle with weight. The only thing that will aid weight loss is the fact that most organic options are fruits and vegetables (they have yet to come out with organic Pepsi), and so you'll be forced to eat more of those. The aforementioned price factor could also help!:)

If your digestive track, liver and bls flooded with chemicals it isn't running aturally, thus you can't flsuh fat our of your system as well. You can still burn it, but it will have trouble exiting the body.
