I'm a huge fan of "The Count of Monte Cristo" and am currently reading "The Three Musketeers," but I've heard some disturbing things. Specifically, some friends of mine said that Dumas 'farmed' his books out to other authors!!

Has anyone else heard/read this about him? It's terribly disappointing!

    *hugs*

I used to love him when I was younger. "The Three Musketeers" and "The Count of Monte Cristo" used to be some of my favourite books when I was 7-8.

unless I understand the definition wrong
what's wrong with "farming" your book to another author??

I love both of those books, I don't think I know anything else that he has done

Alexandre Dumas was an excellent writer, in addition to 'The Three Musketeers' and 'The Count of Monte Cristo' he wrote 'Twenty Years After'. I usually go back and read The Count of Monte Cristo every now and then, probably read it 6-8 times over the years. One of my favorite books of all time, along with Robinson Crusoe,Moby Dick,Pilgrims Progress,The Road Less Traveled,Walden,Paradise Lost,The Adventures of Tom Sawyer...
    I really enjoy reading.
