Hi gals! Hope that everyone is having a great holiday season so far! I got some awesome 100% hemp yarn from http://hempforknitting.com for playing with. It started a new line of hats for eco conscious folks. This is the first hat that I've made with it: http://images.etsy.com/all_images/6/6f3/c11/il_fullxfull.15931529.jpg The hemp is pretty stiff when it's straight from the store but I've washed it a couple of times and it's gotten really soft and smooth. It is acually really great stuff to crochet with!
I took it from the cone and formed an un-twisted skein. I have a skein winder now but I used to use my arm by wrapping between my thumb and first finger down to my elbow and back up again...many, many times. I tie the skein off in 8 different places so that it doesn't tangle, fill up the sink with some eco-friendly detergent and wash and rinse it really well just by swirling it around a lot then I hang it up to dry in the shower on a coat hanger. Taa-daaa! Nice soft hemp yarn.
