A big fuck you to British Airways

So I was supposed to fly home to Finland this evening for christmas. I get to the airport, queue in the check-in for about an hour, then queue some more in the security control thingymaziggy, THEN find out my flight has been delayed for at least an hour and a half. So more waiting. Then after about an hour there's an announcement that the flight has been cancelled and because it was the day's last flight to Finland there's no way I can get home tonight. And it turns out there's no way I can get home tomorrow either because all the flights are fully booked (unless I'm willing to first fly to Frankfurt, from there to Paris, from Paris to Copenhagen, and then from Copenhagen to Helsinki (home) which is just ridicilous coz it'd take alllll day whereas a direct flight takes less than three hours). And so now I have to wait til Tuesday for the next available flight. Bahhhh. Luckily my amazing boyfriend came to pick me up from the airport (even though it's more than a 2 hour drive from our home to the airport) and brought me back home coz otherwise I would have had to stay in a stinky airport hotel. I wouldn't really mind this delay so much but I'm going to Finland for just over a week and now the time I get to be there is gonna be even shorter than that. So a big fuck you to British Airways for being such poops!!

 

You should have done a massive shit in the lobby.

They should pay out compensation to you IMO. You paid for a service and they didn't deliver You come from Helsinki? I've only heard of that place from a line in the Tom Green film 'Freddy Got Fingered'. that film is awesome

So your not going home for xmas now? How comes you weren't taking the bf to meet your folks?

 

BA regularly let their customers down. Boycott them and advise all your friends to do so too. Their about as reliable as Ryanair for twenty times the price.

Anyway, have a good Christmas with your family when you do get there.

Alot of transportation services such as airlines, busses and trains tend to over book, ect and then the best they are willing to offer is an alternate flight ect. What really is bad is that for some reason it is allowed, no abiltiy to seek damages for loss of time ect.

 

that sucks hairy ballls at least youll hopefully get home soonish. how long woudl it take to do the public transit thing, like a bus n train n ferry n such? mebbe check it out just in case the second flight gets cancelled agin

I fucken hate BA. Flew with them once from Prague... was supposed to fly straight to New York. Lots of delays and bullshit later I was flying from Prague to Frankfurt, from Frankfurt to Paris, stayed the night in Paris... flew out of Paris to New York the next day late in the evening. The night in Paris would have been nice, but the airport was a good hour out of the city, and I had no idea when my flight was gonna leave. So I just spent a day sitting around on my ass in Paris.

Anyhow, I wish ya luck Tuesday, I really do. I fly out for Florida tomorrow and hopefully it will just be chill... domestic flight, connection in one of the airports I hate the most: Houston. Huge ass airport with trains, and lots of annoying walking. (Even though, you can smoke cigarettes in a couple of restaurants there, which is a rare luxury in U.S. airports. )

 

Hey stranger

I am going home still, it just got a bit delayed and now I'm HOPEFULLY flying tomorrow. The boyfriend is staying here taking care of our little puppy, we didn't want her to have to travel by plane especially coz I'm only going for such a short period of time.

 

The thing is though that it's just pretty much Finnair and British Airways that fly to Finland from here directly (well, Ryanair does too! :tongue) and they operate their flights together so it's only bad options for me. Haha oh well, I've never had any problems with BA before.

It unfortunately takes too much time and it's such a hassle. Plus expensive as well if you don't book it in advance. It should be alright tomorrow though, and if not I might just poop in the lobby. :tongue:

 

Good luck to you for tomorrow as well! I really hate travelling by plane, sooo much waiting around at the airports, delays and whatever else, and it's just so damn boring. Oh well, fingers crossed we get to our destinations in one piece and without any hassle!

Apparently it was because there was a technical fault in the aircraft that we were supposed to fly in and it was stuck in München. And BA didn't have any aircrafts to spare...

 

I blame Bush (less regular flights due to fuel cost increases) and global warming.
Sorry about your Delay though.

 

BA is usually a pretty decent and reliable airliner. But that is a personal experience. I also think Biman is pretty good, although I heard lots of other stories about them.

Sucks for you though.
