Even ignoring the fact they pretty much ignited the whole punk movement, they just kicked ass. Anyone who disagrees is wrong and either has horrible taste in music or is making some sort of lame attempt to be a nonconformist among nonconformists.
I quite agree. I don't see how anyone can claim to be into punk music and not find the Pistols sound shit hot.
Hahahaha...i listen to REAL punk...go look at the punk bands thread... Anyway...you guys...nonconformists? im not a nonconformist...but im moreso that you guys...hahahaha...the pistols were lame and sucked hard...listen to real punk then tell me they are good... They ignited it because they SOLDOUT...just like the Clash(101'ers) did...and the Ramones...and they all suck...and furthermore there sound(even for punk) was choppy and worthless...
I listen to a few of the bands you mention, Rezillos, Misfits, 4 skins, NOFX etc but can still enjoy the Pistols.
But you still cant compaire them to good punk rock like that...except for NOFX(because they were more ska-punk)...im not saying you CANT like them...im just stating my point and the point of crust/street/anarcho punks all over the place
Ah, so you're one of those guys. I refuse to take seriously the opinion of someone who doesn't consider the Sex Pistols, the Clash, or the Ramones as "real punk" because they "sold out." Go ahead and trash bands like the Sex Pistols for stupid reasons if you feel the need to prove your "punkiness."
if the pistols didn't have the popularity they did, but made the same music, would you still hate them? i really doubt it. it reminds me of people who hate tupac for the sole reason that he's the most popular rapper ever; even though he was the realest.
I like Tupac...hahaha...he was a rad guy... I dont like the SOUND of their music...its trashy and choppy...and the lyrics were false statements of anarchy...not like CRASS...who actually did stuff against the brittish government...
Fair enough, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Although, i know a lot of crust/street/anarcho punx that still rate them.
Go to squats in London & Leeds etc, you'll find them there. By calling them these "punx" are you implying they aint real, true punx because they dont fit your musical tastes or ideals?
You called them 'Punx'...not me...i was only reiterating your spelling of the word and your implied meaning... If i remember correctly...arent a lot of squats down about 3-4 streets aways from the Leeds Town Hall? I would never go to london ever again...to many cold people...kinda like NYC or LA
I used that spelling because that is the spelling i have always used when describing more than 1 punk, no meaning, implied or otherwise. There have been punk/anarcho squats dotted across the Leeds/Bradford areas for over 2 decades now. Used to travel down & stay there in the late 80's. London does have a lot of cold people but there are decent folk there as well. Just like any major city i suppose.
Glasgow always had a good few squats...lots of cool people there i hear...my buddy lives there right now and although he is a ned he says there are a lot of punk squats around...
I wouldn't live in a squat here now, too many junkies that would steal the eyes out yer head. Used to be good years ago but got fucked up like everything else. That said there are still plenty good people here. Not that this has anything to do with anything. Never Mind The Topics!
