Ok Im just now being introduced to reggae and I need you guys help. Its like first listening to pink floyd you only like stuff like another brick in the wall and just the big hits but over time you want more and start liking everything. So what are some of the big bands that have several good hits. Thanks you guys.

Bob Marley of course, but you probably already know him. Inner Circle had some hits, like Bad Boys and Sweat. Other bands I like are Burning Spear, Black Uhuru and Steel Pulse.

if you wanna get into dub, check out Lee "Scratch" Perry, the Upsetters, Dillinger, Junior Murvin

Half Pint, Everton Blender, Israel Vibrations, Katchafire, Matisyahu, Peter Tosh, Super Cat, Barrington Levy, and Alpha Blondy are some of my favorites.

^no sublime kind of plays ska/rock. dub is heavy roots reggae. usually without a lot of vocals.

i second the trojan box set suggestion as you get to hear 50 songs for $15 [or so]

but they are of course lacking, i think no burning spear on any of them

the 3 dub sets are especially good, and the 3 ska, 2 rocksteady, revive, skinhead, r 'n' b, and calypso [if you want to hear where it all began]

anything produced by lee perry from 1969-1978 is usually an easy choice

king tubby was god until he got on the jammy digital train

    think labels too

pressure sounds puts out tremendous compilations

as does blood and fire [now out of business?]
