Why do people still belive in magic, spirits, psychics, time travel, blah, blah, blah, etc.?????? None of those things exist period. We all know it deep down inside, or atleats we should. There are many people in my life who currently belive in faires and stuff. I realize this is hip, (meaning hippie?) forums but still... Skeptics please whine with me.
time travel is tenable, just not practical. I am absent sufficient knowledge in regard to the other subjects to provide you any comment.
blah blah blah exists; it's all i ever really hear. really though, this is no place for skepticism; so many people, especially young ones, think that being a hippy is really really cool and that the best way to be a hippy is to ignore all common sense and pretend to be retarded
yuhhh im a rationalist. lol cause people are s-tupid! they like to get their hopes up, and rely on something that doesn't exist to make thier life all glorious, and heavenly. lol i should shoot them.
the problem is, the use of rational getting thrown around here is subjective. rational should be objective, but since the resolution of human understanding of the universe is about as good as a hercules dichrome monitor, one is gonna have to say, rationality doesn't apply here.
Nope, burden of proof falls on the person who believes that something does exists not on the person that believes something does not exists.
What I meant to say is: People believe because for some they have actually seen the proof. And others just need to believe in something. What would this world be like if nobody believed in anything? Can I Live, Do you believe in love? its basically the same type of thing. sorry my computer spazzed and I dont know why i have a bunch of posts in a row. If someone could delete my posts before this one that would be cool.
"I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong. " - John Lennon That's more or less my beliefs. However, there are alot of things that happen, some call them Miracles, and I would agree/disagree to some extent. I used to be a Christian and all that, I pretty much got myself together and realized that I was living a lie. The only thread that I have that I'm hanging on to, is all these "Miracles" can't be sheer coincidences like some Atheists make them out to be, I still somewhat believe in a G-d. I just don't know exactly what it is. No religion in the world is a fact, because a fact is something that can be proven or disproven, which no one can do.
You've showed no reasoning behind our argument. Al you're doing is saying "No. Nope. Uh-uh. Didn't happen." I might not believe in any of the stuff you said, but you can't just blatantly start an argument you can't back up.
Why do people still belive in god, heaven, hell, santa Claus, the tooth fairy, the easter bunny, blah, blah, blah, etc.?????? None of those things exist period. We all know it deep down inside, or atleats we should. There are many people in my life who currently belive in faires and stuff. I realize this is hip, (meaning hippie?) forums but still...
I disagree with you completely, but i understand people make mistakes when being a smart ass. I cannot understand why to believe in something you must prove it to other people, in fact using your logic your belief about said issue cannot be held untill you prove to be true... pretty stupid. I think a better description would be that whoever asserts something to be true or not true has the burden of proof, but really people can believe what they want and until it is an argument or ('God' forbid) winds up in court room 'burden of proof' is a very un-needed term.
How do you know that YOU'RE not wrong?? Some people really believe "deep down inside" that these things exist. No one can prove who is right or wrong on either side, so just let those people have their fairies, magic, etc.... is it hurting or harming you in any way? PS.....Einstein proved that time travel is possible (albeit only to the future).
Why should we actually know those things deep inside anyway? Can't one thing exist for another and be fantasy for someone else? I don't see why you are trying to let us give up romantizing our reality. Although our perceptions are roughly the same, they are all personal and subjective on the other hand. Everybody romanticizes to some extent, and I really love that
