I just saw on t.v. that the F.D.A. legalized cloning beef and pork. What's worse is that unknowing consumers might actually be purchasing these products without the knowledge that they are eating as cloned animal. This is is insane!!!! I don't know what to do about this. I am very upset. I think cloning should be illegal. I also think that they should AT LEAST warn the consumers that they are buying food that isn't from a real GOD made animal, but from a cloned animal. What can we do about this???? If you have any ideas, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Peace

The simple solution is to give up all animal products and boycott irradiated produce. You might live to see the end of the current reign of terror in the US.

I agree wholeheartedly. I used to be a vegan, then I met my husband, a meat lover. This new cloning thing though has really got me thinking about going back to being a vegan. It is easier said than done; however, I think I will give it try again. Thanks for your awesome comments. Keep them coming. Peace

But I don't understand the point of cloning. In addition to being ethically questionable, isn't it way more costly and much less efficent that natural reproduction?

Yeah you would that they would label it, but they aren't. That's what makes it even scarier. No more meat for me. Peace

If this upsets you so much, you'd think that you'd be a little more concerned about your so called "God-made Animals" that are right now being pumped full of hormones and steriods, and then mechanically slaughtered to bring you your bacon. Talk about unnatural.

I'd much rather eat an organically raised/fed cloned pig then most of the filth that gets sold in our grocery stores.

(Yeah I'm a troll. Nicotine withdrawal isn't pretty)

Yes Cloning is shit, but it's just the continuation of a tendency towards mechanically produced food...

Polecat- I am concerned. That's why I did this thread to begin with. I do agree that it is wrong to pump all those animals with steroids and hormones. But I don't think that or cloning is a good idea. Cloning isn't natural. Neither is pumping those animals with hormones and steroids. That's why I stopped eating meat. Thanks for your concern though. Peace

"hormones and steriods, and then mechanically slaughtered to bring you your bacon"

So on top of that, we'll add cloning to the mix. Ya, great idea.

Anyone who says that it doesn't matter, doesn't understand what's going on here.

When scientists tried to make a synthetic phytonutrient that is found in fruits and vegetables, they found that the synthetic version to be carcinogenic. Don't allow scientists to fool you into thinking that it is perfectly safe- That they know exactly what they are doing. They could be missing something, and missing something could prove hazardous to your health.

    same with EVERYTHING
might as well not use any technology developed within the last 25 years if this is such a concern to you.

    very much the same thing.
how long did it take them to realize lead was dangerous?
    asbestos?
or for the general public to find out the truth about smoking?
    it happens, lots.

I've heard that they didn't know uranium was dangerous until a traveling salesman sold 50 vials of impotency medicine to a Pittsburgh man, who drank them all, and his jaw fell off
sounds a bit exaggerated, but I wouldn't doubt it happening

You have a point. But the last thing to be tampered with, should be food.

Technology can do more harm than good, anyway.

I don't get it, what's there to be afraid of? Just because you hear "cloned", thats no reason to hide under the blankets in fear. FWIW, plants have been cloned for years. Most orchids you buy at the florist are cloned.

And I have the same question about irradiated food, what's to fear?

What we fear is that cloning somehow reduces the quality of the food, to a point where it can be possibly carcinogenic.
