I'm a Christian, I believe the Bible is the word of God and that it is His will and what He wants for us in life. Therefore I don't want to do anything that would displease Him or go against His word.

I know me, I thought about women and have dated, but it was something I ahve never been sure of - now I can say hand on heart that I don't want a relationship with a woman - I want a family with a man. Not that it should matter what I feel.

You can't just imply that all Christians 'follow like a sheep', we are all human, we all have brains and can think for ourselves! I use like to guide my life, if I agree with what He has said, I will follow it, if I don't I wont, I'm sure you know there are many different denominations of Christianity - all having slightly different ways of following God.

It's up to you whether you worship Him, I will not say that you must - I can't make you!

Again you can't imply that Christian's don't have fun in life just because they follow a God! I do have fun and am the happiest I have ever been! I have relationships and love people and learn, that doesn't change because you are religious.

I guess non-believers will never agree with Christians, but the Bible is worth a read. Who knows it may even make a difference in someones life!

ok,I may be just a dumb southern baptist redneck, but I know what my bible tells me.If you accept Jesus as your lord & savior, there is no sin he cant make dissappear.thats what He died for..to save our souls..Jesus EXPECTS us to sin.He knows we'll sin..it's a matter of accepting him into your heart 100% & total faith. My preacher's family was recently in a bad wreck, doing severe damage to his wife & 2 daughters. The community outreach of all the local churches & people was simply amazing.you might ask "how could he get up there & preach when all this disaster is goin on in his life with a smile",I know I did..it's simple, pure 100% faith.onelil ol lady had a colonostomy..she's every bit in her 80's..she come back to church just smilin & as friendly as can be..that's faith my friends.when you have Jesus in your heart there is no question.for that matter,I dont see where you get "hate & fear"..I dont know any christians like that.they may dissaprove of ur lifestyle, but they know it's not their place to judge.for the non-beleivers,I'll say a prayer for you that you might open your eyes one day.as good hearted as you may be,Jesus is ur only path to heaven

You're kidding right, just the bible? the whole thing aswell? so much of it was manipulated by the church not all Christian texts are apart of the bible and i wouldn't consider every book in there either as 'the word of 'God'.

The Bible (Old Testament and New Testament) are collections of writings that believers selected from a larger set of writings purporting to be truths about God. I find them useful as guides to life. Same with the Qur'an and the sutras. There are other sources of religious insight,as well, that some Christians follow. I also use reason, intuition, and experience, and put a lot of emphasis on the underlying principles of scripture: e.g., agapic love.

The living word of God can only be spoken. Once you write it down, you've killed it.

Why do you seek the living among the dead?

Yeah and another fact: the only version of the bible you find today is the King James Version, which basically means that King James went in and took out everything he didnt like. And has anyone even read the whole thing? There is some really messed up shit in there: ritual human sacrifice, rape, murder, and slavery among other things. And don't even get me started on the massive amount of contradictions littering the pages...

Ahahaha. This is the most ignorant post I've read in a long time. First off there are a few versions of the KJV itself. The first translation, the NKJV which removes all of the Jacobian language and pronouns etc, and the 21KJV which retain the "poetry" style of the original and retains the Jacobian style but changes archaic words that the meaning has changed ...for example, "in the midst of my bowels" is changed to "within me"...

Second, there are numerous English translations, not to mention many other translations in other languages as well...

People who belong to the KJVO (King James Verion Only) movement say that it wasn't the KJ translators who changed the English version, but the later translators (such as the RSV, NRSV, NIV, NASB, etc) because some of the terms are changed which supposedly deminish Christ's divinity among other so called "agendas".

http://www.tyndale.cam.ac.uk/scriptures/ look at all these translations...

I agree with Moon Beam that it is arrogant to think that a Christian life isn't fun...as superficial as that is.

And also, to me this quote signifies something to me. You are looking for an excuse to feel anger and frustration towards certain Christians, possible ones you've experience in your life. So you've come here not looking for assurance that Christians can be nice people too, but that you are right and Christians are wrong. When faced with people who back you up, though they do not belong to what you perceive as "your camp", you denounce them as not being true to themselves (as signified in your Jewish mysticism/buddhist comment) or that they are mislead (saying that Moon Beam is incorrect in claiming her heterosexuality).

Okie, love you comment on agape. I think people often misread Paul. They focus on the Pastorals which are just 2nd C letters riding on Paul's 1st C successes. They also focus on the nasty comments in the Authentic Pauline letters which are very often identified as later additions (for example, the antiJewish comments in 1 Thessolonians, or the female subordination comments in Corinthians). Paul's true message seems to be a redeeming Christ for a human weakness to do what is best for ourselves and not others (sin) and a turn to agape philosophy through the message of Christ's death (he had agape, so he died for us...purely unconditional)

    Edit:
    Agreed.
