Does anybody else enjoy reading books by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O'Neal Gear? if not, what books do you guys like to read?
Nope never heard of them. But I read mostly stephen king and dean koontz with a few different authors inbetween. Currently I'm reading Stephen king's the stand which is an excellent read. I'm halfway through the 1000 paged book, and still hooked.
never heard of them, but i like reading a lot of different things...depends on my mood i'm currently reading a historical book about pirates.... i like the occasional well written biography or nonfiction history book i like some fantasy/scifi books like the hitchikers guide series, everything of neil gaiman's i've read is fantastic, the princess bride is way, way, waaaaaaay better than the movie, and kurt vonnegut is one of my favorites.... if i'm feeling up to something more challenging, then scripture from various religions is interesting to read, as are some more scientific/philosophical books i dunno....theres lots of good stuff to read out there!
i like a lot of fantasy like tolkien, r.a. salvatore, and robin hobbs. Love non fiction too, im about to start reading helter skelter again since i never finished it in highschool.
a great nonfiction book that may be of interest to many here is DMT: the Spirit Molecule, by Rick Strassman Rick Strassman was allowed by the government to perform studies of the effects of strong psychedelic drugs in HUMAN subjects in the early 90s. the studies related to DMT, and they did follow-up studies with psilocybin. it was the first time schedule I drugs had been allowed to be studied in human research subjects since the controlled substances act was introduced in 1970, if i'm not mistaken very interesting read
I lived in this little college town called Northampton in Massachusetts. It's a really cool down to earth hippy little community. So anyway me and a friend rented this little apartment upstairs in one of the old victorians there, and it turns out that kurt vonnegut also rented it once for a few months. He lived there while he was doing something at one of the colleges. We had this HUGE moth that wouldn't leave our porch, and we named him Kurt for fun.
Haven't heard of those, no. What genre are they? Currently I have a pile of books to read. The entire Sherlock Holmes stories, Programming in SQL, about6 books in spanish, Brave New World, The Art of Deception, The Hobbit... I hate it when I don't finish books ¬¬
ive never heard of them but i read gonzo about a month back, than imperial life in the emerald city and now im rereading all the kings men. my favorite author is probly john grisham though. im gonna read a painted house after i get done with all the kings men.
brave new world is incredible and i highly recommend it. it is often lumped together in a loose group of books dealing with "futuristic utopias," which generally portrays them in a negative light. while brave new world is indeed a book about a futuristic eutopia, and while many people think of it as negatively portraying this concept, i interpret as a vision of such a society that could actually work. i think its one of the more interesting of these books, and there are a number of things about it i find strange and unique....def. read this one first however just because a book is a classic doesnt necessarily make it good or doesnt mean everyone will like it. i fucking hated catcher in the rye, as well as fahrenheit 451, and on the road is dull and anticlimactic (but i liked dharma bums), great expectations made me want to cut my eyes out of my face with a pair of safety scissors (but a tale of two cities is one of my favorites), and i dont like john steinbeck, either. and don't get me started on the stranger by albert camus. ugh....great gatsby sucked.... classics become classics by being very popular as well as influencial. this is no measure of quality, and enjoyment is all relative to the person.... classics are just what people remember cause they were popular....just cause cheech and chong made some "classic" comedy movies doesnt mean their movies were any good. they sucked worse than most other movies i've seen. almost no funny moments, which is kind of a downer for a comedy. "classic" doesnt mean shit....who cares if he didnt like catcher in the rye? it WAS boring. its not a big deal, just cause you guys like it....
Currently reading Stephen King's "The Dark Tower" series. Two months ago I read "The Ruins" by scott smith which is bad ass. And I just finished reading "Room Full Of Mirriors" the Jimi Hendrix biography
I am currently in the middle of 1000 little peices. Its about a man who is addicted to crack going through rehab. Its a fantastic read.
Just finished up The Rise and Fall of The Third Reich and Generation Me. I am a fan of mostly history and psych books. I like 'thriller' type books like The Bourne series on occasion as well.
finished about two days ago the book Dune by frank herbert. Really good read, i advised anybody to have a go at it
Hey didn't you see on the news that that guy's a scam??? Oprah had him on her show, and then she found out that he lied! I guess that book isn't really true afterall. He got into some trouble I guess.
they are husband and wife, and working archeologist, specializing in Noth American history. I currently just got done reading people of the Earth. and People of the Wolf. they have maany People books based on different tribes. it's all fantasy and misticism of course, but since they know so much about north american history, it just feels so real to the reader. of course they have many other books, some with just her and some with just him. and i find them all worth while to read. which is what i plan to do. each are like 600 pages though =/
