Hi guys! The resort I work in is planning its New Year's Eve party, and our theme is rock n' roll. I was put in charge of the playlist that includes rock n' roll songs throughout the decades and I've managed to go through all the Billboard Top 100 charts from 1956 to 2002, and I have a tentative playlist in the iPod. THe problem is there are a LOT of songs that I have yet to include, and I'm already feeling overwhelmed! Add to this the fact that I couldn't find a lot of classic rock songs that I expected to find like those of Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin anywhere on the iPod (which is not mine, btw, so I can't just hook it up to my laptop where without erasing all the data). Please help me. If it were your New Year's Eve party, what songs would you want included?
Here are some fun tunes for you from the early days (which were the most fun IMO) Bobby Freeman- Do You Wanna Dance The Gentry's- I Keep On Dancin' Isley Bros- Shout (pts 1 and 2) the Trashmen- Surfin' Bird Gene Vincent- Be Bop a Lula Shangri Las- Give Him a Great Big Kiss Chuck Berry- Back in the USA Little Richard- Tutti Fruity Elvis- pick 'em Kingsmen- Louie Louie Franky Lyman and the Teenagers- Why Do Fools Fall in Love Beach Boys- Barbara Ann Beatles- Twist and Shout Richie Valens- La Bamba Buddy Holly- Peggy Sue Gene Pitney- Hello Mary Lou Bill Haley and the Comets- Rock Around the Clock Gary US Bonds- 7 Day Weekend Carl Perkins- Blue Suede Shoes Your Pick of artist- Do You Love Me Dave Clark 5- Any Way You Want It Music Explosion- Little Bit of Soul Tommy James and the Shondells- Crimson and Clover Ventures- Walk Don't Run Eddie Cochran- Summertime Blues Mickey and Sylvia- Love Is Strange Brenda Lee- The Stroll (not my fave but no RnR party is complete without it!) Ike and Tina Turner- Proud Mary James Brown- I'll Go Crazy Never seen people have a bad time at a rock-n-roll party! Wish I could be there too!
Thanks man. I have already compiled a looooooong list, over five hours worth of nonstop music. I got Be Bop a Lula and Tutti Fruity (the Pat Boone version, not Little Richard), plus at least two Elvis songs. I've never heard of Brenda Lee's The Stroll, but I'll see if I can download it from Limewire. I can't believe I missed Rock Around the Clock and La Bamba!
Whooooaaaaa there!!!! You simply CANNOT use the Pat Boone version over Little Richard!!!!!!! NO WAY!!!!!! 'Been a long time since I did the Stroll'- Led Zeppelin The Stroll will get the girls together with the boys- gotta get that one!
All right all right! Calm down...it's still more than a week to New Year's Eve. *chuckles* I like your passion though. Reminds me of me. Anyway, thanks for the info. I'll make the necessary changes ASAP.
Hahaha Yeah, I thought it was kinda funny that you had Pat Boone on there! BTW it could be that the Diamonds version of 'The Stroll' is the better than Brenda Lee, not sure. I just know that song is where everybody lines up in two lines and then couples dance through one couple at a time. I think that is right. Anyway, there are always slow songs to slow dance to if you don't like 'the Stroll'. I hope you have a fantastic night!
Anything from Daft Punk's first album, especially: -One More time -Aerodynamic -Digital Love -Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
:& Well, in my defense it wasn't MY iPod. The guy who owns it just downloaded every Billboard Top 100 song from 1956 to 2002 and uploaded it there. I tried looking for it via Limewire but I couldn't find it. Anyway, I'll try again later. Thanks. And you too! Whatever it is you're planning for New Year, I hope you have a great time.
