Quick question, and the pertinent one if I decide to move out there: Do folks convene in public, at all? It seems that here in the Northeast, unless you are in NYC or Boston, most folks are quite reclusive. Like "hibernation" reclusive. Just to clarify, I do NOT consider hanging out at the mall "convening in public". I'm talking like, in parks, etc., and, specifically, the late-twenty- to thirty-something crowd. It just seems to me *getting up on soapbox* that folks have lost the ability to talk to each other, even strangers, in real life. It's all by proxy through cellphone, messenger, and email. I'd just assume find a place where that hasn't happened yet. *Stepping off soap box* Also, if you could give me any head's-ups about Portland, that'd be cool too.
no man i just moved here and almost every body talks to me. even tho im all hipped out older people even talk to me. its kool. But of coarse everyone is different. What part of Oregon Are you going to move to? Im in Portland as of now. Ive only been hear a few weeks and havent gone out to much because i easily get lost, heh. Its good if you have a car but the bus system is really good here. I moved to portland only because i am staying with friends of family. there dosent seem to be an abundance of hippies here. Ive been told there more down south of portland. But back to the subject; If you comeing to portland and you dress 'normal' then you should have no problem at all talking to people. Other then that youll have a great time. People here are very acepting to 'different' people. To give you the heads up on the negitive things here; (because no one told me before i came) There are a lot of senile bums, meth addicts, robers (make sure you chain your bike) and the cops do not put up with bull shit they Shoot To Kill! for real man but i dont mean to discorege you from comeing, i hope you do become an oregonian some day! peace, love, n wisdom, Tyler
i guess i should tell you more about portland after reading your post again. The bar seen is pritty prevelent (if you do drink). there are a lot of micro breweries. (good stuff) There is whats called satuerday mareket witch im going to tomarow. Its a weekend thing right on the water front down town that is a bunch of venders; including hand made things local farm fresh foods and awsome entertanment. If you like thai, then this is def the place to come. theres A Lot of it here. Like i said before portland is very acceping to different people. A lot of open minded people here. I see a lot of stikers and bilbords that say "KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD" witch is cool. It seems like the age group that is prevelent in the activities here are from my age to yourse and up about 5 years so you wont find any problem finding people around your age. um well thats it that i can think of im sure other people will give you a better idea, and maby perfect mine. good luck and hope to see you here.
