My mom bought me a shampoo for christmas that hasnt come in the mail yet. It's called Wen shampoo. It's supposed to be all natural.

    http://www.wenhaircare.com/

It says on their website that:

    " The WEN® Cleansing Conditioner is a
revolutionary new concept in cleansing your hair that has Hollywood buzzing! It’s special because it cleanses hair thoroughly but without lathering and all the harsh ingredients that may be found in ordinary shampoos — it is designed so it won’t strip your hair and scalp of their natural oils. Your hair is left with sheen, moisture, manageability and better color retention."

But I dont know if its okay to use on dreadlocks since im just starting them... is their any brand of shampoo I can buy in like a drug store that works well incase that new shampoo doesnt work out for me?

There's some scary sounding chemicals in the ingredients list on that site [IMG]

i agree. alot of shampoo companies say that they use all natural ingredients (Garnier and Herbal Essences, for instance) but i would never go near it. i would just go buy some bronners

Hollywood would never be 'buzzing' about something good for dreadlocks :p

Oh, and is using bar soap just as bad as using regular shampoo? Could dreads ever survive with normal shampoo?

bar soap is way better than normal shampoo, but make it a natural bar soap. pears transparent soap would probably be fine, but ive never seen an ingredients list. it seems to be just vegetable glycerine and ess oils though and ive used it on my hair with no ill effects. dont try to use ivory or dove or a creamy one like that, im guessing it will suck.

    Bi-carb!

Most bar soaps from any health store will work just fine. Pears does work but I just hate the smell. Baking soda has worked consistently well for me and you can get it anywhere.
