I often feel that anyone who is going to do anything of worth in this world has already started by my age - or earlier. I sit and think where i will be in 10 or 20 years; am i successful? Should i be looking at it that way? As of now, I have no ideas in my head, no motivation; im simply going with the flow. Do we get smarter/wiser with age? Then there are kids with visions, getting internships, doing projects, working their way vigorously through school- they have direction. I dont seem to have any direction, I feel like im leaving it all up to fate. Unless i have some immense boost of motivation or some clear cut vision of my role in life, i feel ill be doomed to a mediocre existence.

Moreover, is it wrong to expect so much of myself? After all, we cant all expect to be revolutionary in whatever endeavors we choose to undertake, can we?

Yes. You might as well spread your seed as much as possible and hopefully oe of your kids wont be destined to fail. It's all we can cling to.

Whoever said that making yourself a tool of this society at such a young age as a measure of success?

I'm having fun and allowing myself to grow at my own pace while those people are breaking their ass. I really enjoy my life too.

i havent found much motivation in life either. But eventually you get sick of the same old thing and progress forward. And sometimes you have to force yourslef into something as much as you dont want to even if its something small like taking one class at school just to get into the swing of things or working part time. then it gets easier and you appreciate the spare time you have even more.

I reading these posts I can look back to when I was 19 years old. What a hard age that can be.

You can't compare yourself with others. They have their path and you have yours.

You will find success when you find your passion in life. Find your joy and the path will open. Life doe not need to be a struggle but sometimes we make it that way.

When I was 19 my mind was like the worlds largest sponge seeking to absorb and assimilate ever bit of knowledge ever compiled by man [IMG]

So If you can avoid it, don’t waste the formative years between 18-25 when learning is easy and the mind is receptive to all things alien.

Ok, so you bust your ass, you "accomplish" something and then you die...in your death bed you wish you had some fun.

Alternative: you have a lot of sex, drugs, and rock n' roll...in your death bed, with syphilis, nervous disorders, and a hearing aid you wish you would have left a productive legacy.

We are getting the sense of the true tragic beauty of the human condition. Adverse as it must be. Adverse...as it should be.

thats just the thing. i know i need to be out there experiencing new things, learning new skills, studying various subjects, but i seem to have no drive to do so. And im worried that by the time i decide to grow up and move my life along my mind wont be as fertile or welcoming to new information. Like you just said, i feel like im missing out on the prime learning/growing period of my life.

Sometimes I feel like I don't want to do anything.

On those days I just force myself to go out and do something productive.

Per example, I'm feeling really lazy today... but instead of just sitting at the computer I got my hemp stuff out so I'm sitting in front of the computer and doing something productive.

    It ain't too hard.

thats interesting - my mom is always telling me 'its who you know' - your connections in life make success more probable. i suppose i should find some sort of passion and try to volunteer or something, like your animal rescue gig.
