lucid dreaming

for those of you that can & do lucid dream, what is your most effective method for becoming lucid?

 

I have always just known when I am dreaming, everything is different and I know that its not reality but my dream world, sometimes I am only an observer but sometimes I can control the dream (wake myself up in a nightmare if I get too uncomfortable) but reguardless of control I always know I am dreaming
