Does anyone have any links or info about draft dodging in the sixties I can use? I'm writing a novel about a draft dodger who makes his way across the country to escape the Vietnam draft. Yeah, yeah it's just a story, and anything anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You might want to check the "Writers" forum and look for the member: geckopelli He could probably help you out. Although after burning Draft Cards, MOST guys went to Canada.

People would just burn their draft cards. I can't lead you to any written material though.

my mom was a draft counsler, meaning guys came to her and she advised them on how to get out, if you want I'll let her know about you, and you can PM me with more info and I'll have her email you.

I met a lot of awesome draft dodgers turned communists at a place called Hornby Island....Its a small gulf island off the coast of British Columbia....You have to take the ferry to the big one (Victoria) and then two more ferries to get there by car....Some of the old draft dodgers started a free store there that is still around...plus theyve added an awesome recycling center....

Such a great premise for book inspiration there eh :)

Well, you people certainly have my heart for helping me out. Thanks very much to everyone for the feedback and suggestions. This forum's notification reply isn't working for me for some reason.

Thanks everyone, I'll keep looking for research.
