Okay, im sure this has been posted before, but i think i should weave a new thread on the subject of adoption and its effects on population.

So in my opinion, the obvious and best way to reduce the threat of a population crisis is to adopt children instead of making your own, as fun as that may be.

Birth control should be more accepted in the community, especially in the religious community. Its alot better than abortion, but that is for another thread.

Not only does adopting a kid eliminate the need to create one, it also makes a drastic positive impact on the child's life(if the parents arent shit).

As days pass i feel i am beginning to gravitate to adopting children when im ready, and if i really want kids.

Do you guys think this can help, or not.

Let the responses pile up like a Los Angeles landfill

Its hard to adopt a regular, run of the mill child. There isn't that much of a shortage of homes unless the child is somehow damaged goods (ie: FAS).

I think I would rather adopt or foster. I have never really wanted to have children of my own and think that there are soo many children out there who haven't got a home - I would like to help!

Think I would adopt/ foster a chile with special needs.

Im really looking forward to adopting a child.
Were both going to wait a good few years though, maybe even ten or more, to give us plenty of time just to ourselves first. I know itll be the biggest thing we ever do
We have no plans to create yet another life when there are so many wasted and unwanted and the planets looking the way it is
    Good topic:)

I agree. Its like how some people will spend hundreds of dollars on a pure bred dog at the same time ignoring all the dogs up for adoption in shelters that no one wants. (well, not exactly the same, but its kinda the same concept). Why would you have your own kids, when you can help out the ones already here?

    Exactly.

That's why when I'm ready for kids, I'll adopt.
