I'd be more afraid of a BIG BROTHER state or A "LIBERTARIAN" FEUDAL STATE before I would a state who wants to take carry of its poor, elderly and young.

How horrible! Social programs for old people! :D LOL!!

You "nanny state" paranoids aim your guns at the wrong target, you'd better be worried about a RIGHT-WING BIG BROTHER STATE.

The Republicans want a nanny state as much as the Democrates do.

Well, if it is between a system that takes care of those less fortunate OR a dog-eat-dog society, I'll take the former.

I believe in an anarchy/social system, but as long as CAPITALISM is our economic system, we MUST have saftey nets for those who may fall through the cracks.

Sadly no matter who would best fill the shoes for our (the peoples) best intrest it will always fall to those with the most coverage and as long as teh media has its own agenda (ads to pay for things) we will likely never see the underdog on many ballots. So seems you must choose the lessor or the evils left to run. Its not right but its been fact. Change would be nice but good luck finding the money to make it happen so that enough others can see other perspective worthy people and parties.

Until we change the economic system in this nation, no other form of social governing will be effective to the point that it matters.

Hopefully it never changes. I would hate to be a doctor and make as much as a McDonalds fry cook. In fact, it would probably make me do a shitty job when I should take it seriously, being a doctor and all.

I don't agree that Social Security doesn't fall under the same category as everything else you described as "Big Brother".

I mean, honestly, what better way to set up a totalitarian system than to organize every citizen by a number? I guess you can rationalize it by telling yourself that it is responsible for retirement funds and healthcare benefits, but the fact is that it is screwing over a large number of people.

To me it seems a bit odd that it hasn't been abolished and a different plan re-instated. That seems like the logical solution, but a million other things are being put ahead of this crisis. I guess I understand that not everything can be fixed all at once, but this seems like a pretty big fish to be frying and then ignoring.

    Seems odd, that's all.

I gained a lot of respect for Kucinich as a person after watching that.

Ever considered that all eighteen year old males still have to register for the draft...why is that? I think that should be on some legislative agenda. It would have made it easy for King Herod to kill all eighteen year old males. Almost like beef getting their ear tags.

You were cattle tagged the day you recieved a social security number. They know your 18 before you go and register. Thats how you would get a nasty letter telling you its the law blah blah blah and to do so now.

We can provide billions for war but you don't think we can provide basic health care?

Actually there are things like health care and utilities that should be regulated in the public interest. How many privatized sewer companies are there? Ever wonder why the mob and corporate entrepenuers haven't jumped on that band wagon. But I have no doubt soon water supplies will be privatized. And you won't just be paying for water in plastic bottles.

I think it probably goes further back to registration for school or even your birth certificate being filed with the local county clerk's office.

If the goverment can regulate mandatory insurance, manatory requirements for licenses, mandatory register for draft, a drinking age, a voting age, a list of things we cant not own, can take away things we did own, and so on why cant they demand doctors accept thier health care plan as part of them getting thier practice license?

Hell medical care only costs alot becuase its big business simple and fact. Medicines cost less out of the US, basic care services cost less out of the US. Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why? Its not that our doctors are better, or our drugs are better thats a fact.

You dontate organs and blood and they in return sell them through inflated priced surgeries and such. Seems odd the rich get to the top of donor lists alot and some mulitple times, wonder why that is?

Yes I theorized that our social security numbers are assigned at birth but you just did not get it handed to you until you asked (applied) for it.

    This is interesting:

If I was a young male I would ask every candidate if they were willing to do what Ford did? It would be interesting to see and hear their answers.

I wonder what Paul would say. I pretty much know what Hillary and Obama would answer.

My sentiments exactly. Our government subsidizes drug research, but the drugs developed under those subsidies are cheaper in foreign countries, why is that?

I wonder what percentage of medical students receive government subsidized educational loans. Why can't part of the agreement for the loans be that they work for societal benefit for a period of time?

I think a real leader would lead by example. Take pay cuts or donate salary to assist others. If they wanted to wage war then thier family is out there in front too. You are assigned to lead and make decisions that are best for your people. If your people are starving, cold, sick then you have no right to assist anyone but your people first. When they are all cared for then you may expand your efforts.
